If there is one thing I can not seem to grasp is how to work stripes, I usually stay away from them because I feel as though they don’t look good on me. I know fashion fits all, we are all unique and whether we put conscious effort into how we dress or not that is still our own unique way of styling, of embracing fashion. It is when we start copying others without any alteration to make it our own then we lose our uniqueness. Anyway I digress, today I am sharing how I ‘worked the stripes’ for my recent weekend getaway to Warsaw, Poland.
Lately I have been traveling a lot and it is important for me to be comfortable but also to maintain some sort of style with my attires. I have always said I am not the most fashionable person but I never said I don’t like putting outfits together because I do and I enjoy it big time. Once doing my online shopping via Amazon, I decided to pick up a short sleeve striped shirt to add to my collection since I had none. A couple of days later I was contacted by Butterfly Twists to collaborate and I chose their Zebra Striped skater pumps called Jade for a perfect companion for my new shirt with stripes.
As mentioned I travel a lot and this time I was heading to Warsaw, Poland so I thought this would be the prefect opportunity to style the stripes and make them work for me. I felt my black new look skinny jeans, my fedora hat, Belkin’s backpack and new scarf (a pop of colour) from Amsterdam would be the prefect airport/ tourist mode outfit. As I shared in my 2 blacks and some colour post, I have too many black items in my closet and lately I am working them by adding some colour to make the outfit standout from the black norm and for me this has been achieved by adding a bold colored scarf. What I am loving (and loved) about this outfit was the fact that it was the perfect airport outfit, I was able to easily take off the Jacket (not shown), scarf, bag, hat and shoes and was able to put them back on quickly. I try not to wear jewelry when I am going to the airport as it just too many things to take off.
This is how I styled my stripes and made them work for me, I love dressing simple and slowly working into making my outfits a bit more stylish too.
What do you think of my outfit? How do you work your stripes?

I really like stripes in shirts and skirts, especially when they are in a black and white color scheme. One of my favorite shirts is black and white striped, and I think it is incredibly flattering. I also like the type of hat featured in this post.

I think you put together a super cute outfit! I typically cannot wear black and white stripes… Actually it is when I wear strips made of only two different color that they don’t look good on me.
