With summer almost upon us, I believe now is the perfect time to start preparing my garden for the summer activities that I have planned. This summer, I intend to do a lot of hosting and I need to get my garden in good order starting with using the M25 Group services to help me with the removal of the junk in my shed.
Since becoming a homeowner over 2 years ago now, I have dumped all the house relaxed junk into my shed and it’s time to start tackling that and use the storage for the actual important tools and items I need to keep in the shed for my garden. The garden itself is another item on my long list of to-dos that need to be taken care of asap as the weeds have grown rampant.

Preparing my Garden for the Summer Activities
Summer time is my favourite time of the year, not only was I born during the summer months but also it’s the one time in the year the UK resembles a European country with some sun. Almost every winter, I escape the UK for warmer climates as I am not a big fan of the cold weather but living in England you kinda adapt whether you like it or not.
However, that’s not the purpose of this post, in this post I want to share some tips on how I am preparing my garden for the summer activities that I have planned. This year will be the first year we can truly celebrate being with our families and friends without the constant fear of going into another lockdown. With that being said, here are some ways I am preparing my garden for the summer activities.
Deck Area – outdoor seating
Last year after struggling to maintain my garden because the weeds outgrown my patience, I decided to get rid of the natural grass, replace with artificial grass and install a deck area where I could sit with friends and family and reconnect over a BBQ. The decking area however has not been touched whatsoever, so this year I decided I need to purchase some deck loungers, table and chairs that I can use to decorate the space. I know the type of outdoor seating I want, it’s definitely rattan inspired but need something that will fit the space perfectly, can be covered easily when not in use and protected from the British weather.
Raised Garden Beds – flowers or vegetables
One of my biggest dreams as a homeowner was to start growing my own veggies and I went about ensuring I had raised beds installed in my garden. Since then, the weeds that took a hold of my garden have continued to outgrow my patience so this summer, I intend to remove all the soil, replace it with good soil that I can use to plant either flowers or vegetables although I am leaning towards veggies than flowers.
BBQ GRILL
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to have a BBQ grill in my garden. I have small portable ones that I use in my kitchen but I have always wanted a bigger one for my garden that I can use during functions with friends and family. This summer, I am on a hunt for a good BBQ grill that will not only fit the space I have in mind for it or even the garden shed but will also be one that I can use every single chance I get.
Garden Accessories
Since getting my garden re-done last year, I have been slowly but surely adding some garden accessories to my garden. I have UV lights installed across the garden and now I want some lights along the deck so that we can still chill on the deck in the evening when it starts getting dark. I want to add some side tables for the loungers and a parasol style umbrella for when the sun gets to be too much. Another accessory I want to add is hanging plants which I think will make the decking area even more inviting.
I am super excited about this summer and can not wait to host my friends and family but there is so much I still need to do as I continue prorating my garden for the summer activities. How about your garden, is it ready for the summer?

I have started to prepare my garden for summer a long time ago. I love having barbecues in summer and I always make sure that the grass is not too long, so no accidents happen. Growing your own plants and vegetables is so rewarding, I have quite a few raised beds in my garden, waiting now for the plants to start producing vegetables.

We have a huge garden, which is great for the dogs, and neither of us are keen gardeners. Luckily we have a gardener that comes in and keeps it maintained.

I hear you, I am slowly learning to embrace doing the garden myself but hiring a gardener wouldn’t be such a bad idea
