How do you cure bored? The simple answer is you cure boredom by doing something and not just anything but something that you really want to do. Most times there are many reasons why you can’t do what you really want to do and on those occasions, there at least 13 things to do when you’re bored especially for those who can work from home.
Boredom is defined as a state of being bored, not that you don’t have anything to do but rather are bored because you can not do what you wish to do. Over the last 6 weeks or so I have been in lock-down thanks for my travels to South Korea and in that time, I created a list of 13 things to do when you’re bored.

Its never easy being cooped up inside your home but sometimes, it is necessary and gives you the time to catch up on some things that never made my to-do list. If like me, you are bored and looking for simple tips to cure boredom then read on.
13 Things To Do When You’re Bored
As someone who loves being home more especially when I am not travelling, they need to self-isolate doesn’t bother me. A few friends have asked me how I survived 6 weeks indoors and honestly I don’t know how I did. But I wrote down the 13 things to do when you’re bored and hope you find them useful.
The items on my list are those that I either do not have time to do normally or I have wanted to do for a while. Not everything you do when you’re bored has to be fun but it must be fulfilling. Getting a sense of accomplishment in doing simple tasks can help cure your boredom and who knows, you might even enjoy it.

Spring clean and declutter
There is no better time than now to spruce up your home and declutter all the unwanted items. Having recently moved house it has given me the opportunity to thrift through the items I know and follow the Maria Kondo rule. Whilst decluttering has taken up the majority of the move, I have also found cleaning to be therapeutic and cures boredom.
Organise your finances
If there was ever a task I always seem to delegate to ‘when I have the time’ it’s sorting through my finances. Now that I have all the time in the world, I have taken the time to write down all the expenditures and cancel the unnecessary spending. I have also had the time now to create an investment portfolio which is something I had never had the time before.

Cook or Bake
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved to bake and cooking came years later. One thing I have found cures boredom is cooking up or baking up something that I will love and will keep me fed. Of late, I have found myself with more time than I cared for so I am using this time to create some new recipes and bake some favourite goodies.
Catch up with friends over the phone
If like me your bestie lives millions of miles away then catching up over the phone is essential and a must. I can spend hours upon hours chatting with my friends and sometimes family over the phone and not get tired. That always seems to lift my mood and definitely takes care of boredom.
Book and schedule your MOT
Almost 3 years ago I bought a new car and with the new MOT law, I did not have to worry about paying for MOT annually until now. Because I now have the time, I have been researching where I can get my MOT and The Tottington Motor Company comes highly recommended. This is not the only motor company I am considering, to keep my warranty with the manufacturer I am considering them too.

Practice Self-care
Self-care is an action that takes care of your mental, emotional and even physical health, something that you control. When you’re bored you can practice self-care by something as simple as running a bath, spending time maintaining your hair or even fixing yourself a nice cuppa in the comfort of your own home.
Exercise indoors
Exercising is something you can do to cure boredom, I often exercise in the morning as I am an early bed and it is a great way to start my day. You don’t even have to have any equipment to exercise, just your motivation, wit and enthusiasm. I have a few apps that I use and can recommend; JETFIT, FITBOD and Youtube.
Stream movies
As a homebody, all I ever due when I am bored and don’t want to work on the blog is watch movies. There are so many movies and series I have always wanted to watch but never had the time, there is no better time than now to crack on with streaming the latest cinema hits.

Read a book
When I say read, I mean more like audible as I am a slow reader and prefer it being read to me. If books are not your thing you can listen to podcasts and there are plenty out there on almost every topic. I have a load of audible books that I am currently listening to and happy to recommend a few. Half of a yellow sun, the misadventures of an awkward black girl and many more.
Get some fresh air
Getting some fresh air always does me some good and always seems to spark the little grey cells to think of something I want to do. If you’re able to get outside for some fresh air even in your own garden then I would highly recommend it.
Learn a new language
Learning a new language is something I have always wanted to do, I am learning Korean, German and recently added Chinese to the mix. With Korean, I can get through buying stuff and eating but not a proper conversation, so I want to learn more. Duolingo is one of my favourite free language apps that I use and would recommend.

Do some crafts
The only crafts I know involve things that I can actually eat or scribble on but other than that, knitting is something I enjoy. Knitting is surprisingly therapeutic and whilst I would like to learn crocheting, its too consuming. If you have kids there are so many resources online that you can. use to make simple and fun crafts for the kids.
Enjoy a long nice bubble bath
Since buying a new house and moving in, every single night I have been enjoying a long and nice bubble bath. Trying to put a house together on your own is tiring and gets bored quickly so I have been motivating myself. Whenever I clear a big task then at night I will have a long bath and just relax without fussing about what hasn’t been done.
There so many other things that you can do to pass time that doesn’t often involve going outside. In the last few weeks, people are struggling with staying at home but it is important that we adhered to these guidelines.
As someone with family members who have front line professions, I can only imagine how much they wish they too could be cooped up at home with their family members. But the nature of their professions takes them away from their family members, it’s these people we should thank and practice social isolation for.
What are some of the things you like to do at home when you’re bored?

These are all great ideas, I love reading and watching old TV series, I have recently bought a switch and I think I will be spending more than a little time playing that.

I love reorganising and sorting out my finances, there’s something so satisfying about it. At the moment as I have loads to do in our house I’m not getting too bored, but when I’m at home I like to watch TV shows and read x

These are some great ideas – I was wondering about learning sign language – I struggle with English as it is due to my dyslexia so another writing language is out of the question but sign language seems a great goal.
