{Travel} Nice Weekend Getaway

Nice, how I miss you so. I can not believe it’s been a few weeks already since I returned from the south of France. How is it that my weekend getaways seem to come to an end faster than Usain Bolt? Can’t the weekend just include every Monday moving forward? Because that would be totally awesome with me and stuff.

Y’all know, I had completed my #take12trips travel challenge last month with my trip to Venice and Milan right? Well, I figured since I still had one more month before the year ended I had to add another getaway. I put this getaway under the disguise of ticking off my 30B430 travel bucketlist and off I went. Though I do not need an excuse to travel I felt this time I had to do something.

Nice, in all honesty I chose because I have always wanted to visit the French Reveira and it is on my 30B430 Travel Edit Bucketlist. Sitting at home doing nothing I spotted the deal for a flight to Nice and I bought it without much thought. I choose the first weekend in December to travel as that was the only weekend in the month which wasn’t spoken for. Booking the afternooon off from work, I quickly found a 4 star boutique hotel having an awesome deal £60 for 2 nights and I was on it.

Nice Weekend Getaway

The day to travel arrived, I almost missed my flight and ended up buying speedying boarding for luton airport. Luckily everyone at the airport was nice and let me through, security was a bit slow but what else is new. Found my gate and run all the way as it was 15 minutes from security and they had started boarding. Luckily I got there as the last 15/20 people were getting on the plane and that’s how my adventure started.

Arriving in Nice after 8pm, I could have taken a train which would have been so much cheaper but I opted for private taxis and paid 30euros. Arriving at the hotel, the owner didn’t speak much English but we got through it with my lack of French knowledge. The Friday night was spent showering, watching some French TV whilst I caught up on some blogging.

The French Reveira

Saturday morning I was up bright and early with the intention of only walking the French Riveira coastline and nothing more. The week had been such a long me, there was much to organise and parties to attend so I was aiming for a relaxing weekend. I picked up a map at the hotel and just started to wonder around, looking at google maps I headed for the direction of the beach. Though I had no clue were I was, I could only surmise it was the city centre as I came upon Etoile hotel. Then many shoes like Zara, Sephora and some that are familiar but can not recall the names.

Walking past all the shops, I came across the #ILoveNice hashtag sign in the streets where a French band was performing. It was nice to watch but my mind was all about the coastline so off I went as at that point I could smell the beach. Another two minutes walk and there it was, the mediterranean sea right before my eyes. The view oh wow the view was just wow. The view is one I won’t be forgettting any time soon. I took atleast 5 minutes just sitting down and taking it all in.

Taking in the fresh smell of the mediterrean sea I started wandering around Nice with no plan. I found a quint restaurant at the beach and I had my breakfast there. I chose both the French and English breakfast Yes I was that hungry. After my belly was full, I embarked on what would be the best day ever.

Get a 360 view from Castle Hill

Wandering aimlessly taking in the sights, I decided to visit at least one tourist attraction which offered the best views. I walked from the beach all the way to Castle Hill, I will not lie it was totally tiring. Walking up to Castle Hill that you start to understand where the ‘Hill’ part of Castle Hill comes from. I was totally knackered by the time I reached the top but it was totally worth it.

After about an hour just walking around Castle Hill, taking the 360 view of the French Reveira, I then left. I headed to the beach where I spent the over 3 hours sleeping on the stony beach sunbathing. England was definitely short on the sun so when I found it in France, I decided to enjoy it.

I had such an amazing time exploring The French Reveira . With an extra day I managed to explore Eze Village, Monte Carlo and explored Fragonard Perfume Factory.
