Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist | 19 Places to Explore!

At the start of every year, I make a point of writing down goals for the new month and bucketlists. As 2019 begins, I thought I share our 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist of 19 places we intend to explore. The list is a mixture of Trips abroad and Local Adventures of places we would love to visit. There are places on our list that we’ve been to before but want to allocate more time to exploring the places.

Our 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist is filled to the brim with local adventures as I want to explore more places closer to home. The last 3 years have been crazy trips abroad and though I enjoy it, I am cutting back. We do hope that our 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist will be inspirational and help you curate your own. We are excited to be exploring more of the UK and Ireland, as local tourists in our own backyard.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

When I started compiling our 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist, I had to take a moment and review previous bucketlists. I am a great believer in allocating time to review previous plans and creating a new strategy for the pending actions. Looking back to the 2018 Bucketlist, there are places that I did not get a chance to explore.

The 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist will be a mixture of places we’ve been and those yet to explore. One thing to remember is even though we make plans, there are more of a guide than anything else. Below we’ve listed the various places that make up the 2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Cardiff, Wales

We’ve only ever been to Cardiff once but we loved what we saw though it was years ago. The plan for 2019 is to explore as much of Wales as we possibly can starting with Cardiff.

Portmeirion, Wales

Having spent an entire day at Portmeirion we knew we just had to come back and explore it again. It is such a beautiful italian inspired village and can be visited any time of the year.

Adventures in Portmeirion in North Wales

Cork, Ireland

I have been wanting to visit Cork for years now and excited to be adding to 2019 bucketlist. It is a place I have heard lots about but rarely added to any bucketlist.

Shannon, Ireland

Shannon is another place I have heard lots about but never included on any bucketlist. This year I am hopeful that I would be able to visit this gorgeous Irish city.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburg is another place I have visited before but many moons ago and not as a tourist. I have not been to Scotland for over 5 years now and would be awesome to visit again soon.

Shetland, Scotland

It is funny that the only reason I added Shetland is because of the TV program with the same name. I would definitely love to explore the northern region of Scotland.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Yorkshire, England

When I shared 13 must visit places in England, someone informed me I should have included York. I must admit though have heard only good things, I hadn’t considered it. This year it is another place I want visit before the summer.

Devon, England

Devon is another part of the UK I have gotten close to but not actually visited. I am excited to be planning my adventures to this region and bask on their sandy beaches.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Derby, England

Derby was never on my list until I met a lovely solo traveler to who lives there. Though not sure exactly when I will be visiting Derby but definitely before the autumn 2019.

Dorset, England

One of the many reasons I want to visit Dorset is for the Jurassic Coast and Weymouth. It is definitely a county that has lots to be desired, filled with sandy beaches.

EXPLORE NORTH WALES

Warwickshire, England

Last month we were invited to spend a night at a spa hotel and use the newly refurbished spa. We had such a lovely time at the spa we made of promise to return.

Cheshire, England

For many years I had wanted to visit Cheshire and not only for its red sandstone building but the Zoo. Everyone who has been to Cheshire has lamented about Chester Zoo and Cathedral.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Antwerp, Belgium

It has been years since I last went to Belgium and would love my return to be to Antwerp. A city I have not visited before but would love to explore one day.

Helsinki, Finland

Though I have been to Helsinki, I did not get a chance to explore the city properly. It is a city I definitely would love to explore soon and even have an itinerary.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Lisbon, Portugal

After my recent visit to Faro in the Algarve region of Portugal, I had such a lovely time. I am excited to be adding Lisbon to my 2019 Bucketlist and hope to visit soon.

Krakow, Poland

Over the last few years I have enjoyed travelling to Poland and for 2019 I want to visit Krakow. A few months ago I visited Gdansk and Sopot, both very lovely Polish cities.

2019 Travel & Staycation Bucketlist

Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is a city I will continue to visit provided my best friend is still there. It is such a lovely and lively city with so much to offer.

Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is a dream destination and I am excited to have finally booked a flight and can not wait to visit. A few friends have been and I am excited to be going for myself.

Lagos, Nigeria

Because I am attending a wedding this year I decided to add Lagos to my bucketlist and excited.

I wouldn’t mind visiting those places in Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, in particular. My maternal grandmother is from Wales, so it would be nice to visit there some day. I have actually been to Ireland, way back in 1974, with my high school band. We participated in an international band competition in Limerick, and visited Dublin and a couple other places (so long ago, I’ve forgotten!) The oldest daughter of a friend of mine had her wedding in Scotland last year, as her hubby’s heritage is Scottish.
