{Fashion Monday} Beach Fashion Essentials

Beach season has begun, I am excited for all the items I will be adding to my Beach Bag Essentials. It is crazy to think the last couple of weeks have been utter bliss weather wise in the UK. Yes some parts of the country have been having rain, we have been enjoying the sun. I thought this was the perfect time for me to share my Beach Fashion Essentials.

I am always envious of those who live closer to the coast as they can easily access the beach. Unfortunately I am not one of the lucky ones, I live in the middle and all beaches are an 1hr+ from me. But nonetheless, I always look forward to the times when I visit and spend the entire day snoozing at the beach. With that in mind, here are some of the Beach Fashion Essentials that I always take with me.

Officially summer 2018 started on June 1st but we’ve had incredible weather for the last few weeks. Most of my friends have been making use of it and heading off to the coast whilst I caught up on sleep. With a family trip to the beach planned, I am excited to be packing my Beach Fashion Essentials. I don’t know about you but I never go to the beach without these items:

Maxi dress and Shorts

I only ever wear two types of clothing when I am headed to the beach; maxi dress or denim shorts. Somehow for me these are my must have items, they are easy to style and easy to take off. I rarely wear swim suits at the beach but when I do its under a maxi or shorts.

With a maxi dress, I often wear slippers and pair with a fedora and a straw bag for good measure. I will carry a sharong but rarely use it unless I have no towel to sit on at the beach.

For denim shorts, I often wear bikini bra and a string top and pair with trainers or canvas. Fedora hat always follows along with a straw bag too.

Swimwear

As I mentioned I rarely take swimwear with me as I often just love to chill on the beach. The fact that I can not swim is another reason I often don’t bother packing swimwear. But the times when I do, I often carry a one piece with me as I am most comfortable in that. If I have packed a bikini top it’s because I will be paring it with denim shorts.

Footwear

I am someone who had a new-found love for flat shoes, I wear them everywhere and way too often. Whenever I head to the beach I either have slippers, flip-flops or trainers/canvas. Often I opt for flip-flops unless I visit stony beaches like Brighton then trainers are a must for maximum comfort.

Eyewear

Another item that I always carry with me everywhere are sunglasses, which for a sunny day are a must. I used to have loads of pairs but now I am in need or replacing my current ones with suitable ones. I feel sunglasses are just as essential as sunscreen to protect your eyes from damaging sun rays.

Beach Fashion Essentials – Extras

Obviously the aim of this article is to share my Beach Fashion Essentials but it would be silly of me to not include the following.

Beach bag – I don’t know if many people have specific beach bags but I certainly do. Most of us know no matter how careful you’re, someone you bag will have sand in it. Therefore I do not use my everyday handbags and purchase a special beach bag.

Wipes – I am someone who uses wipes for everything so I always make sure to pack some when I am traveling. I prefer all-purpose wipes for wipe down anything and everything whilst at the beach.

Sunscreen – we all love the sun, some more than others but its prudent to ensure you have adequate protection. Skin cancer is real, so make sure to apply it regardless of your race. I apply SP50+ when I know I will be exposed to sunshine throughout the day.

Headphones and Music – whilst the sound of the ocean waves sends me to sleep, sometimes it doesn’t. In those instances I opt for some soothing music as I relax or wish to take a nap.

    Miranda,
    I have really enjoyed your article. Eye-wear and sunscreen seem to me very important. However, for Sharong or towel, my wife prefers towel and I think she is right. Towel seems to have more uses than that of a piece of Sharong. We chose our towel from here and the more options help to pick the most suitable beach towel.

    I always wear shorts when I go to the beach. Also, sunglasses are a must. I always laugh how after a day in the sun I get “panda eyes” because of the sun glasses.
