Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Benefits of Essential oils

benefits of essential oils

By now everyone knows what essential oils are and some of their benefits. I personally have used a few essential oils that my mother put together and have seen the benefits. The benefits of essential oils are massive but also depends on what you’re using the oils for. In case you didn’t know, Essential oils are natural oils obtained from plants either via cold-pressing or distillation. Essential oils are described as the ‘planets immune system’ that protects the plant from harm, a defense mechanism. Since there discovery, essential oils have been used in cosmetics, soaps, candles, and even cleaning products.

Over the last few years my mother has been making candles and soaps and she loves incorporating essential oils in them. She loved using lavender oils for candles and tea tree oils for soaps and I noticed the difference in my skin after unsing them. My mother always mentioned the importance of ensuring you purchase essential oils from repuatble companies as so many fakes out there. I was pleased to have the opportunity to spread the word about essential oils from one such reputable and well known company. www.newdirectionsaromatics.com is a 2009 supplier of Essential Oils winner with over 250 different varieties of essential oils. All their essential oils, fragrant oils and carrier oils are ethically sourced, companies like LUSH uses New Direction Aromatics as preffered supplier.

Benefits of Essential Oils

Essential oils are basically natural remedies with little to no side-effects because of their antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. These products have been used for centuries in many cultures like Eyptian times when they soaked the plants over time and distilled using bed linen. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that some of the old technique (whilst improved) are in use today. The benefial value of essential oils is countless which makes them the most loved oils to use in natural remedies.

Benefits of essential oils include but not limited to;

  • Soothing sore muscles thereby aiding your body into relaxation
  • Fighting common colds and flu symptoms
  • Alleviating pain
  • Healing skin conditions and even,
  • Improving your digestion

There are over 101 essential oils uses & benefits, the aforementioned benefits are just to name a few. Myrrh Essential Oil has been used for centuries because it’s believed to enhance one’s spirituality. Others like lime essential oils are great for facial products like cleansers and toners. Benefits of essential oils are many and can be used for practically everything.

I love lemongrass oil. It smells so good and really is great on my skin. The aroma lingers so nice around the house too if used as a scent in my home.

I was introduced to essential oils about a year ago from a friend and have been in love since then! I will admit that I was a bit hesitant at first, but after a few trials I was hooked!

I’m still on the fence about these essential oils. They seem so popular, but I’m not sure I can get on the bandwagon.

This is a great list of the benefits from using essential oils. I have been using more and more essential oils for healing along with adding them to homemade cleaners. The main reason I use them is because they have been used for centuries. Thanks for sharing the information.
