I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. {Fashion Monday} Birthday Presents

Your girl celebrated her 29th birthday last week Thursday (and the blog celebrated 3rd birthday last Friday), it was a quiet day because I had to work all day then travel to my parents in the evening. Though it was quite, I had to head to the post office to collect a parcel waiting for me and it was three dresses from the lovely House of Fraser. They had contacted me a last week to see if I wanted to collaborate with them and share ideas on how I style maxi dresses.

Birthday Presents

Receiving the dresses on my birthday made my day even more special, I can say they were my first birthday presents of the day with a couple more to follow later in the day and the day after. In my family we don’t usually do birthday presents, being alive is the greatest present we can give each other but it’s always nice when you get some birthday presents from loved ones (as well as from brands).

Outfit: Dress – house of Fraser //Shoes – new look  //Bag – H&M //Cardigan – H&M

With a budget of £50, I searched the house of Fraser website for some lovely cocktail dresses that I could wear in the next few weeks. I have two weddings to attend so I chose tfnc Sleeveless Cross Back Deep V Maxi Dress and tfnc Sleeveless Split Maxi Dress to try as they are both pretty and won’t look shabby for a wedding plus I can wear them to formal outings as well as dinner dates. The last dress I chose was Yumi summer floral dress hoping to match the season and also just needing to have a nice maxi dress in my collection as I was robbed  relieved of my previous ones by my extended family.

Styling a maxi dress

For most of us we like to dress down maxi dresses. On more occasions than one when I am wearing a maxi dress you will find me wearing it with flats and a small cardigan but on rare occasions I will dress up my maxi dress with stilettos or wedges.

If you’re going to a function and you’re wearing a maxi inspired dress then always choose stilettos for formal fictions and wedges for informal functions. To help your maxi dress stand out always have your hair up and show off your collar-bone. Wearing heels with a maxi stops it from sweeping the floor, shows of your elongated structure when walking and just looks elegant without trying. I am very much loving these dresses as my birthday presents and just how lovely each of the materials are.

Birthday presents

As I mentioned birthday presents in my family are not common, being alive is enough. But that isn’t to say I didn’t get some presents for my 29th. A special someone sent me some fresh flowers which I am lovingly parading in my home. The flowers came with a miniature birthday cake and some chocolates for my sweet tooth. Another friend also gifted me some fresh flowers which are also being paraded in my home and a nice set of picture frames that I need to fill soon.

What do you think of these maxi dresses? Do you like receiving or giving birthday presents?

It is a lovely dress! As I’m getting older I’m expecting less for my birthday. Just being alive is great enough.
