Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Jingle and Mingle: Creative Ideas For Office Christmas Parties

When it comes to your office’s social calendar, Christmas will be one of the biggest events of the year. It’s a chance for everyone to mingle and have fun, so if you’re planning a Christmas party for the office, you will want to make sure it is memorable for the right reasons.

That means it’s time to start thinking about creative ways to make such a party enjoyable for everyone. This could involve planning activities that people can have a go at throughout the party, such as karaoke or decorating a gingerbread house, or getting everyone excited about the party in the days leading up to it, with things like Secret Santa.

When it comes to your office’s social calendar, Christmas will be one of the biggest events of the year. It’s a chance for everyone to mingle and have fun, so if you’re planning a Christmas party for the office, you will want to make sure it is memorable for the right reasons.

Disclosure: This is a collaborative post

With that in mind, here are nine ideas to help ensure everyone has a good time at your office Christmas party.

  • Hire a photo booth

Christmas parties are all about having fun and making memories, and hiring a photo booth for the party can be a great way to make that happen!

An office Christmas party photo booth gives everyone the chance to take pictures that really capture the moment, meaning the party will be talked about for a long time to come.

Photo booths can feature a range of different backgrounds, so photos can have Christmas-themed backdrops, as well as a variety of festive props.

Having photos as a memento of the evening means everyone will be able to look back on the party and remember how much fun it was, so you should definitely consider hiring a photo booth to make the event extra special.

  • Give the party a theme

If you want to add an extra touch of fun and creativity to your office Christmas party, why not consider a theme? You could have a Christmas jumper party and hold a competition to decide whose jumper is the funniest or most festive.

  • Partake in Christmas tree decorating

Another creative Christmas party activity is tree decorating. This could mean bringing several small Christmas trees to the party – perhaps one on each table – and dividing everyone into groups to decorate them.

Alternatively, if you’re hosting the party at the office rather than at a separate venue, you could wait until then to decorate the office for Christmas, and have everyone get involved in putting up decorations.

  • Organise a Secret Santa

Arranging a Secret Santa will have everyone thinking about the Christmas party for weeks before it happens. This makes it one of the best ways to get the whole office in the festive spirit.

  • Hold a Christmas costume competition

Another way to make your office Christmas party feel unique and exciting is to hold a costume competition.

You could ask people to come dressed as something associated with Christmas – they could be elves, reindeer, or anything else!

Of course, there’s always the option of dressing up without making it a competition – and if you have a photo booth at the party, everyone who has arrived in costume will have a great time taking pictures.

  • Plan some gingerbread house decorating

Are you looking for a more laidback activity that everyone can join in with, and that also encourages people to work together and get talking?

If so, putting everyone in groups and getting them to decorate gingerbread houses could be a great idea. Plus, it gives people a chance to get in touch with their creative sides.

  • Get people involved in Christmas karaoke

There is arguably no better way to get people into the Christmas spirit than with singing. So, make sure your party has a karaoke area where everyone can sing along to some classic Christmas songs!

  • Organise some Christmas ornament making

Making or decorating Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree – either in the office or at home – is a great activity to offer at any point during the party.

It can be a good icebreaker while people are arriving, or as something to wind down with at the end of the evening. Or it could be something that people can get involved with throughout the party, if they want to do relatively “laidback” compared to some of the most obvious festive party activities.

  • Hold a Christmas quiz

A Christmas-themed quiz is a great way to break the ice and get everyone talking. You can let people choose their own quiz teams or, if you want to mix things up and help everyone get to know each other, teams can be assigned before the party starts.

Each round of the quiz could be based on something different – for example, one set of questions could be on Christmas films, while the next could be on Christmas music.

Whatever way you structure the quiz, it can be a really effective way to get people to talk to each other and help everyone to enjoy the party.

There you have it – no fewer than nine excellent ways to spice up your own upcoming office Christmas bash. Hopefully, the above will have got you firmly inspired as the Yuletide season looms.
