Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).

{Monthly Series} July 2018 Goals – 5 years of Blogging

A July Dreamer is 5 years old today, I have managed to continue for so long because I had goals. Every month I share goals that align with my vision for this blog and personal life. It has not been easy but it has been worth it, so many opportunities and new friendships.

To celebrate the 5 years of blogging I wanted to share some of my July 2018 goals on here. In the next few days, I will be sharing 25 or even 30 things I have learnt about blogging. It will be a long post but I hope to make it educational and inspiration for those starting out. In hopes of being inspirational I shared; Blogging Tools to save you time and 8 things to-do before you publish.

When it comes to setting goals in life, you have to really give it some thought and plan out your thinking. Not everyone shares their goals with the world but as this is my platform I like to share my life goals. In the July 2018 goals, I will focus on goals that will help me take my blog a notch up. After attending the Icelloy.com event I am feeling very inspired to up the game a notch. But before I can share the July 2018 goals, here is a recap of the June 2018 goals.

July 2018 Goals

Recap of June 2018 Goals

Regular readers will know I set the June goals quite late, 8 days before the end of the month. This was very much unlike me often I set them earlier but I still wanted to set my goals for June 2018. Let’s review how I fared with the goals with just 8 days to work with;

Work

  • Strive to meet all June deadlines – SUCCESS, met all my deadlines
  • Buy a farewell present for a colleague – SUCCESS, we all contributed and I bought the gift
  • Work on my organisational skills – PARTIAL SUCCESS, I could definitely do better

University

  • Write up final assignment and submit before deadline {29-06-18} – SUCCESS, submitted hours before deadline
  • Clear all pending fees – SUCCESS
  • Enquire about final master’s dissertation plan – PARTIAL SUCCESS, I have the details but not reviewed them.

Blogging

  • Schedule more posts for during the week – PARTIAL SUCCESS, can do better
  • Write up all collaborative posts before end of month – SUCCESS
  • Work on new blog schedule – FAILED, had no schedule just posted.

Travel

  • Search for cheap flights to mainland Europe; FAILED – no travels planned so didn’t search
  • Take parents abroad next month – FAILED – see above
  • Visit more local places – SUCCESS, visited a few places already.

Personal

  • Put money aside for mortgage – SUCCESS – steadily saving every week
  • Put money aside for taxes – SUCCESS – as above
  • A lot more time for self-care – SUCCESS – treated me to a lovely staycation

As you can see I have done pretty well with only 8 days left to the month but regardless I could do better. I set the above goals from daily life as those were things I wanted to accomplish that month. As mentioned for the July 2018 goals, I want to take my blog a notch up.

July 2018 Goals

July 2018 Goals – 5 years of blogging

I started blogging back in July 2018 on a whim and did not really know what I was doing or wanted. It all started as an outlet for me to share my new life in a new city with no family around. But I quickly realised that blogging can be much more than a ranting place if you put an effort. Effort alone is not enough, dedication and have a clear plan of action is something that’s helpful.

It is shocking to me to think I have been blogging for so long and between July 2017-2018 I have made just under £10k. Blogging has definitely opened up many avenues for me that otherwise wouldn’t have had. I feel like in that last 5 years have been doing the bare minimum and now I want to up the game. With that in mind, here are the July 2018 goals.

Blogging Goals

  • Grow A July Dreamer Instagram following {2690}
  • Grow A July Dreamer Pinterest following {288}, new account since 2017.
  • Increase traffic flow from Pinterest
  • Grow the mailing list
  • Write more quality and longer post.
  • Interact with a brand that matches A July Dreamer ethos
  • Start incorporating videos into my content (still in thought process)

Whilst every month I like to share all manner of goals, this month I want to focus on just blogging. I want to make this hobby into a small part-time business. It’s a long road ahead but it’s one I am willing to work along.

Here is to another 5 years of blogging!!!
