Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Fashion Monday} Monochrome inspired

Looking out the window today on this Spring Bank Holiday Monday and it is raining, typical of British weather. I have mentioned a number of times of this blog that I hardly dress for the weather and when I do it’s more on the colour front than anything else. Today I thought I put together my typical outfit for such a weather, I am more of a monochrome type of dresser but I have been slowly adding in some colour in my wardrobe which has resulted me creating my monochrome inspired outfit.

There is nothing special about this outfit except for the fact that I have added some colour to otherwise a monochrome inspired look.

Spring Bank Holiday

Those who know me know I love nothing more than wearing my blacks and whites and have put many an outfit with these two colours. But even though I love these two colours, I have been expanding my wardrobe and adding in more colours and what better way to add a pop of colour to your monochrome inspired outfit than adding nude or rose gold colours to complete the look.

Wearing monochrome outfits and making them look fashionable enough is not always easy for everyone (I am not claiming I nail it all the time). We all dress up in black/white outfits every now and again and by definition that is monochrome but how do we make it more fashionable with little to no effort on your part.

Jeans/Trousers – Readers of this blog know of my new-found love of ripped jeans so it comes as no surprise that my first tip is if you’re comfortable enough with it then find your favourite pair of black ripped jeans. That along is enough to make whatever outfit you have in mind stand out.

Tops/outwear – I have mentioned it is raining today so I am thinking long-sleeved top and because I was thinking monochrome outfit I picked this stripped long sleeve top. You don’t have to pick this one you can choose to wear, white, black or grey which ever you fancy. For the outwear I have a lovely roll up blazer which comes in very handy when it gets warm I can roll it up or when it gets cold I can roll it down.

Shoes – Since it’s raining I do not want to wear flats nor do I want to wear boots so I chose sling back sandals which are high enough and look really pretty, yes without an umbrella my feet would get wet but I do not plan on playing in the rain. I think these sandals bring to this outfit a little sophistication, class and yet simplistic effort from your part.

Accessories – Continuing with the monochrome trend I had my black/white phone cover to the mix and the black beanies to protect my hair. But just because the trend is monochrome it did not deter me from adding some rose cold accessories; Watch, pendant and earrings.

Bags – There is nothing I love more than finding that one bag that stands out in the crowd and this faux leather tote bag does just that. Apart from the accessories everything is basic and unless looking for them, the accessories would be hidden in the mix and since even with my monochrome outfits I want something to stand out I figured this nude coloured bag would do just the trick.

And there you have it, your monochrome outfits should not be boring when you dare to wear them. You can always had some spice to it by adding some colours like rose gold accessories.
