Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Casual Autumn Outfit: Transition from Autumn to Winter

Is your wardrobe ready to Transition from Autumn to Winter yet or nah? I am someone who always changes over my closet at season change though keep a few essentials nearby. When I talk about a wardrobe Transition from Autumn to Winter, I am not implying you need to purchase a new wardrobe. But rather, check what you already have and see if you’re in need of some Winter Fashion Essentials.

Whilst you might need to pick a few pieces, chances are you have almost everything you need. Every end of year before the wardrobe Transition from Autumn to Winter, I declutter and curate a list. This list consists of item to give, throw or replace and this year I am picking items from *Fashion World. I am in desperate need of office outerwear that is stylish, of quality and inexpensive.

Casual Autumn Outfit

Recently, I attended a book launch thanks to Tilly of That Oxford Girl, who invited me to her book launch. This was my first ever book launch and I was excited to see Tilly again plus her book. I am not the most savvy when it comes to fashionable outfits but I had one Casual Autumn Outfit in mind.

This outfit came together pretty quickly without much thought, as is the case for most of my outfits. I wanted something I wouldn’t sweat in whilst indoors but wouldn’t be too in cold whilst outside. And that is how the Casual Autumn Outfit was born fitting the two main criteria.

  • Footwear – Knee high boots from JustFab
  • Jeans – ripped skinny jeans from New Look
  • Outwear – fitted jacked from H&M
  • Accessory –  knitted tube scarf from H&M
  • Blouse – Y-Neck Flowy Blouse from JustFab

On a cold winter’s night, from this outfit, I would replace the outerwear with a much warmer coat. Or better yet, I would weather a coat over the fitted jacket as it’s not too bulky to fit underneath a coat.

Wardrobe Transition from Autumn to Winter

One thing (I think) I have perfected over the years is transition my wardrobe every season. A couple years back I bought storage boxes to keep items I was not wearing or even using. It turned out to be a life save since I have an open style closet and don’t like clutter. Here are some tips on how to wardrobe Transition from Autumn to Winter.

  • Swap your jackets for a winter coast
  • Layers are your friends but chunky knits are better
  • Replace ripped jeans with wool pants
  • Be tight with tights
  • Add some chunky knit scarves
  • Be a turtleneck
  • Add some knitted beanies
  • Be bold with your lip colour

As I have mentioned already, the best way to transition your wardrobe for the season is to declutter. This way you know what needs replacing, throwing away or giving to charity. Take the season into consideration and vamp it up with items that you love. In my winter wardrobe, I still have tank tops but those are for wearing underneath the turtlenecks.

I like putting my summer clothes into storage, as it makes it easier to find what I need during the colder months when I’m not going to wear them, but I’m not organised enough to do Autumn and Spring too, maybe one day!

I had a good old clear out recently, so I could see what I had in my wardrobe and I am definitely all about the layering and adding scarves as the weather gets colder. Mich x
