Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Monthly {2016} April Goals

Like seriously what is going on here, how come time is moving at the speed of lightning? Or maybe it’s because I am traveling so much and hardly having any me time that’s why I am thinking time is cruising by so fast? Please tell me it’s not just me who thinks 2016 is not taking no prisoners! Anyway welcome to April y’all, it’s that time again to share my goals from last month, see what I did and didn’t do and schedule more or move goals from last month to the April goals schedule.

april goals

Before I share my April goals, here is a look at the March goals and how I got it. Remember my philosophy, if at first you don’t succeed move it to the next month 🙂

{2016} MARCH GOALS

As I have mentioned above, my philosophy is if at first you don’t succeed move it to the next month until you do, with that spirit here are the goals I moved to the March from my February goals and will continue until I succeed.

  • Make time for each other, I want to remember and bring back the old days. Having being together for so long we have forgotten how to date each other and I want to remedy that. PARTIAL, we did spend time together but I had to travel and also needed to spend time with my parents but I will continue to work on this.
  • Celebrate Valentine’s Day, For the last 8 years we’ve always celebrated Valentine’s Day either the weekend before or the weekend after and usually we go for a meal or go to the cinema. Rarely do we cook something together and so here is to hoping this year we can do something about it. FAILED, he cooked and I ate so I am putting this to the failed category and won’t be moving it forward as it will be practice in the background for us.
  • Improve monthly views – Like I said January has been a great month, my daily views are now average over 1000 views (about 600 visitors) which is awesome for me but I want to improve. We closed January with just under 17k views (over 8k visitors + 1.3k comments) my usual is 7K a month, this has been an achievement in its own and I would like to improve this if not double it. FAILED, I have not done any work towards improving my page view this month so I am still at 7k p/m. This goal I will be moving forward to my April goals.
  • Approach potential sponsors – Again January saw me earn just under a thousand pounds which is totally awesome and this was through PRs and a few companies reaching out directly to me. I want to improve the blog earnings and this time I want to start approaching potential sponsors that fit with my blog. FAILED, I am fortunate that some sponsors approached me instead and I have some good PR contacts who always bring me incredible companies to work with but I know I also need to start pulling my own weight. I am moving this goal to April goals.

Of my 2016 yearly goals, I had hoped by end of this quarter I would be driving but I am nowhere near that. I have not taken a single driving lesson nor have I even put in any effort to start learning. I will be moving this goal to the 2nd quarter of the year.

Now that we’ve determined that I have failed 90% of my goals, I will practice my philosophy and move some to the next month and set up a few more. It is not the end of the world when something doesn’t get done but it is how you handle it after that matters.

{2016} APRIL GOALS

  • Improve monthly views – January page views were just under 17k views (over 8k visitors + 1.3k comments) my usual is 7K a month, this has been an achievement in its own and I would like to improve this if not double it.
  • Approach potential sponsors – I work with lots of PR companies which is awesome but I want to improve the blog earnings even more that is why I want to start approaching potential sponsors that fit with my blog. instead of sitting on my hands and waiting on them to come to me.
  • Savings – this month I would like to start putting some money aside for the future, I know I am a spontaneous person and live day after day but I have set some plans in motion for the future which rely on having some reserves so makes sense to start putting that together now than later
  • Travel – I am traveling to Oslo, Norway in 2 weeks and Seoul, South Korea in 4 weeks so I want to make sure I get all my documents and cases packed in advance instead of waiting until the night before. I know even when I pack in advance I will still unpack and repack the night before but I want to get some items for my friend in Korea now rather than later.
  • Make time for friends – I am quite bad at this, I prefer spending time alone at home. When I am not blogging I am either sleeping or watching TV there is no in between but I need to make an effort and spend more time with my friends instead of just lazing around alone when I am not traveling.
  • Me time – even though the above point would sound like I have loads of me time it is not the case, fellow bloggers will appreciate that the time allocated to blogging does not count as me time since there is so much going on in the background. When I am blogging I probably have 20 tabs open and I am flicking back and forth, this is not relaxing nor considered me time. I need to schedule me time daily between finishing work and starting to catch up on threads.

So there you have it, my April 2016 goals. I try not to set too many goals but set manageable goals that are helpful to me.

How are you doing with your goals? Have you set any goals for April 2016?
