Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

13 Things To Buy When Moving Into A New Apartment

Sponsored

Moving can be one of the most stressful experiences anyone can ever endure and I have done it 8 times in the last 9 years. I have had my share of moving frustrations but having moved so many times, I have perfected how I plan my moves. I have curated this moving & packing checklist in case anyone needs help with an upcoming move. We hope these tips will come in handy as you start planning your move.

It is important to plan well ahead of time to avoid disappointments and frustrations that can easily be avoided by careful planning. Having recently moved into my current house, I wanted to share 13 things to buy when moving into a new apartment. Though this is not my first rented apartment, its the first big sized apartment which has left me filled with ideas of the type of decor I want in my home.

13 Things To Buy When Moving Into A New Apartment

A few months ago when I started hunting for a bigger place with a garden, I was already thinking things I would need. Having viewed the property previously, I mentally started decorating the apartment with things that I knew I would need.

Of late, LionsHome has been my first point of call for everything homeware related home accessories to help add the finishing touches to my home. The weather of late has been more Spring friendly and has made think about buying some garden furniture to spruce up my outdoor space.

As a minimalist I try not to clutter my home, this is why every 6 weeks I declutter the entire house. I love a spacious house with lots of light and plants around my home. The list of items shared in this post per room is under the assumption that each room has the basics.

Bedroom – bed, Livingroom – sofa, Kitchen – kitchen essentials

Having recently moved into my current house, I wanted to share 13 things to buy when moving into a new apartment. Though this is not my first rented apartment, its the first big sized apartment which has left me filled with ideas of the type of decor I want in my home.

Bedroom – I try to maintain a minimalistic look and feel in my bedroom but these items are essential.

  • Beddings
  • Pillows
  • Cushions
  • Side table and lamps
  • Dresser and/or closet

Livingroom – I am a true minimalist when it comes to the living room, I love a spacious and open living room.

  • Sofa cushions
  • Knitted throw
  • Bookcase
  • Hallway table

Kitchen – when it comes to the kitchen, I am more a hoarder than a minimalist, I want all the cool gadgets.

  • Wine bottle holder – though I don’t often drink wine, I love having good bottles of wine for the guests.
  • Rice cooker & steamer – honestly its often overlooked but a rice cooker has changed my life, I love that its multi-purpose.
  • Coffee & Tea maker – I drink coffee when I am doing all-nighters but I am a tea drink thru and thru.
  • Accessory fruit bowl – gone are the days of fruit bowls being round dishes, now they can be decorative pieces too.

I am sure there other pieces that you will definitely need to buy when moving into an apartment. But, these are some of the basics that everyone should aim to add to their home.

The rice cooker truly is life changing. We used it at least once a week, and the rice is always perfect x

Great advice! I’ve moved a lot as an adult and it’s hard to know what you need at first.

I think the most important thing is DECLUTTER before you move so you have the room for all the new nice stuff listed on this post.
