Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Monthly Series} October 2017 Goals

October 2017 goals marks the 10th installment of the monthly goal series I started end of 2013. Every month I share goals I wish to accomplish in the new month and work towards completing them. Setting goals is a great way to plan out your life and give yourself some sort of direction. For me it’s about trying and if I don’t succeed I move it to the next month until I do. Let’s review last month’s goals and how I got on…

September 2017 Goals

September was such a busy and painful month for me but I am glad to see what October has in store. I am especially happy that today is my Father’s birthday and he turns a ripe age of 53. Let’s have a look back at my goals for September before I share the October 2017 goals.

  • Planning and Preparing – SUCCESSFUL: I managed to read the 4 scientific articles before the course.
  • Spend more time with Family – SUCCESSFUL: Due to the sad events I have spent a lot of time with my family. And also managed to spend quite a bit of time with my sister.
  • Blog header design – SUCCESSFUL: I am glad to have found a lovely graphic designer who has made my new header and signature.
  • Social media detox – SUCCESSFUL: As a self-confessed Social Media Addict I am happy to have managed to do some social media detox.
  • Relax and enjoy me – SUCCESSFUL: I have been enjoying my guilty pleasures.

October 2017 Goals

October looks to be a very promising month with enough relaxation and also travel times included. But with it comes time constraints and the need to allocate time to important tasks accordingly. Here are some of the October 2017 goals I am hoping to accomplish.

  • Submit postgraduate assignment – I attend the class last month and the assignment is due November. But I am not one for last-minute work so I want to submit this early.
  • Monitor my spending – with the new promotion came a pay rise. This month will be the first with the new salary so I need to monitor my spending so I can budget accordingly moving forward.
  • Budget for travels – y’all know I love to travel but money don’t grow on trees. As mentioned above I will be monitoring my spending and budgeting for my travels.
  • Enjoy my mini getaway – speaking on travels I am off to Barcelona next week and excited to spend time in Costa Dorada.
  • Spend time with family – today is daddy’s birthday so I am excited to be spending time with my parents. I spend enough time with my sister but not seen my brother, nephew and SIL in forever.

I have many other goals both work and blog related that I wish to accomplish. But I believe in not over committing oneself to things they can’t possible accomplish in a set period of time.

Do you have a Goals for October or Things you want to do before the year ends?

I think many of us are curious … how did you detox social media? Probably a good post idea? I like this checklist and I think all of it is so important. At least I think for the sake of my own sanity it definitely is!

How did you do your social media detox? I think I also need to do that since it’s becoming an addiction to view updates from other people online. How do you intend to monitor your expenditures? I use an Excel sheet and just note income and expenses.

Congrats on being so successful with last months goals, so exciting! I think setting goals for yourself is so important, but putting them out there definitely is just as important in holding yourself accountable. For me, anyway! 😉 Best of luck this month!

I love this idea. Really keeps everything in perspective! I might need to try this. I love how successful you were in September. One goal I have for October is continuing our purge of our house. Cleaning out one room at a time.

I need to get better about budgeting for travel. We like to travel, too, but they are often last minute trips. I need to make sure that we have the funds for those last minute trips!

I love how you set your goals and then track them. It’s truly a way to get ahead and be successful. Your new header looks terrific. Where did you find your graphic designer?

    I love your success.

I am so sorry you have had a rough go at times.

I love your new header! It’s beautiful. If I may, on chrome, it seems like your social media shares cut off the far left of your blog’s text. I can’t figure out how to move it or see the text to read the article effortlessly.

    Happy Birthday to your dad!

May October be a little less rough around the edges for you and fill your soul with joy and success. I’m cheering you on for your list. I can’t wait to see what you cross off!
