Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

4 Outdoor Lighting Ideas for Spring

Has Spring arrived yet in your neck of the woods or are you experiencing what we seeing, winter extension? I think the majority of us only know it’s Spring because the days are staying lighter for longer. We’ve been having to switch our outdoor lighting later than during the wintry cold nights which has been nice. This year more than any other year has made me realise just how much I love Spring and look forward to it. There is a saying ‘A frog never realises the importance of the river until it has dried up’, can you relate? It took me this long to realise how much I love Spring now that it’s playing the hide and seek game.

Having outdoor lighting in your backyard is all the fun about Spring and Summer times. When you hosting a little get together, the weather is warm, drinks are flowing as freely as conversations, lighting is important. There is nothing worse than having to end a good night early because you do not have the proper outdoor lighting for your backyard. In this post I aim to share with you 4 of our favourite outdoor lighting fixtures in readiness for Spring.

4 Outdoor Lighting Ideas for Spring

With the advancement in technology, you just have to google outdoor lighting and you will be flooded with options. Personally I have four types that I absolutely love and hope to have in my own backyard in my future home. These days you don’t have just buy lighting for the sake of it, instead add some style to your decor. You want the outdoor area to be one where you can relax at and watch the night sky with a loved one. Here are my 4 favourite lighting options you can check out for your garden and backyard. Check out the *latest lighting offers available on Groupon for an absolute bargain.

Pendant Lighting

I love pendant necklaces so it’s easy to see why I fell in love with pendant hanging lighting fixtures. I have seen many designs in Dunelm that have had me stack envious for those with gardens. They had an element of sophistication to the outdoor area and just look beautiful.

Lantern Lighting

Who doesn’t like lanterns? I have loved lantern lighting for as long as I can remember and even have a small lighting outside my house just because. Rustic lanterns are my absolute favourite for the garden area or even your front porch for a rustic look.

String Lighting

For some reason these remind me of Christmas time, I love it when my neighbors keep them way past Christmas. These give the perfect lighting especially for larger gardens or even decorating the tree in your backyard. You can never go wrong with string lights when decorating your garden or even front yard.

Orbs Lighting

I first saw Orbs lighting at a friend’s place and I felt in love with them, even ended up purchasing one. Because there is battery operated I was able to pick one for my home, they are energy-saving and adds character to our home. During the summer these would be perfect to take outside or even at the begin and watch the waves. They look great on the patio but can be added to other areas in your outdoor seating area.

Spring has always being consider a warm up to Summer in readiness for the BBQ season. But it holds its own right as a time of cleansing, rebirth and starting again. It’s hard at the moment the think we are in Spring time when it’s still flaming cold. But alas we can not control the weather but with the things you can control, go for it.

Happy Spring!!

I really like strings of fairy lights for the garden – I have quite a few sets that I’ve purchased from Home Bargains hehe, they’ve got little bumble bees and little butterflies on. They look fab when entwined around the trellis x
