Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

What to pack for a Romantic weekend getaway

Are you planning a romantic weekend getaway anytime soon? Or maybe you just want to take some time out with your love, then look no further. We’ve got some ideas that you should consider, obviously we all are different people and consider different things romantic. We recently just returned from a romantic weekend getaway to Marseille and we loved it.

Depending on your destination it will determine what kind of items you should include on your packing list. But regardless of where you’re off to, some of the items included below are some that you might need.

What to pack for a Romantic weekend getaway

As a solo traveler I often pack light items and where all my heavy items whenever traveling abroad. But when you’re traveling as a couple sometimes you need to adapt your packing methods to be inclusive. On our recent adventure, I decided to pack extra items to make this our first trip memorable. Whether you’re going off on a romantic getaway or jetting off for your honeymoon, here is what to include.

Lingerie

I think for every romantic trip for couples, it is important to pack some lovely lingerie. Recently I was sent a gorgeous bra from Hunkemoller whom I have worked with before. I now own a beautiful nightwear set, some pyjamas bottoms, beautiful lingerie set and now bra. This is an incredible brand which I love and purchase from them because of style and quality.

Headphone Splitter

It might not seem romantic to some but I love listening to music with OH and a headphone splitter does the job. On all the travels I go on, one thing that keeps me entertained is having good music. Using my spotify, I have created some amazing playlists which I use all the time. On our recent adventure, OH and I spent time just relaxing and listening to good music to pass the time.

Bubble Bath

Now I love nothing more than soaking in the bath after a long day of exploring whatever city I am visiting. Often I check if the accommodation we’ve booked has a bath tub or not since majority of places only have shower cubicles. Relaxing in the bath with your love is the most romantic thing ever.

Candles and massage oil

I am someone who loves melting candles in my home and often have one burning as soon as I wake up. The candles will help set the mood for the evening especially those with a good scent. I often buy smaller ones as I don’t want bigger ones that take up too much space. Besides more romantic getaways don’t last longer than a weekend and makes sense to bring a smaller one. I don’t know about you but I do a love a good massage session but those don’t come cheap. Take some massage oil and massage each other to relieve the tension from the day.

Breakfast in bed

One thing I love about staying in hotels (3* and above) is the option of room service. Before traveling it pays to do some research on whether the hotel offers room service and what the menu looks like. If you went for an airbnb type then why not whip up a nice breakfast and have it in bed.

The best things in LIFE are the PEOPLE we love, the PLACES we’ve been and the MEMORIES we’ve made along the way.

I agree with you about the bath – the husband and I once stayed in a hotel which had a bath big enough for both of us – it was fab – we’ve never found another one since.
