Saturday fab finds is a unique series on A July Dreamer where I share my latest finds. The series features a variety of products that have either been sent for review or were purchased by me. This week’s fab finds features a Finnish company Alvar Carto who design unique map posters.
As a frequent traveller, I always buy souvenirs to remind me of places I have visited. Lately, my souvenir of choice is fridge magnet, I have been buying them for years now. The fridge door run out of space ages ago and now my washing machine is almost covered up. I needed a new way to have keepsakes of places that remind of my many travels.
A few years ago I decided to start buying portraits of the cities I visit to keep my memories afresh. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with Alvar Carto, I jumped at the chance. One of the most recent destinations
About Alvar Carto
Prior to working with this Finnish brand, I had not heard of them before. I have always been intrigued by map posters or personalised products. When it comes to personalised products I am all about them and can not get enough. Alvar Carto was created by a group of friends who made unique maps for themselves. It then turned into a business and now you can design your own map of your city.
One thing that really stood out for me was how ingenious the whole process is. You type in any city of your choice and like magic your city schematics are displayed. What’s even more fun is you can zoom to street level precision, which is impressive. If you have a street that means the world to you then Alvar Carto can help you print it.
Another awesome thing about Alvar Carto is you can download a wallpaper for your device. I have downloaded the city I lived for many years in Zambia and now I walk with it. This service is free and allows you to download your favourite cities and keep them with you.
Alvar Carto Giveaway
Alvar Carto offers free shipping worldwide if you design and order any map posters. The posts come at different prices and prices start from €39 for a 30x40cm print. Delivery can be as quick as 2 days after ordering, mine arrived that quickly. The packaging was simple but very appropriate and protective in a column which you can use to store the poster if not on display.
Rules of the giveaway: Open worldwide, participants should be 16+, emails are only used to communicate with the winner.

What a stunning looking map! I have to admit I always get drawn to such things and want to spend a minute or two looking at them, if it is somewhere you have had some adventures it is, of course, going to be extra special.
