Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

{Monthly Series} September 2017 Goals

September 2017 goals marks the 9th installment of the monthly goal series I started end of 2013. Every month I share goals I wish to accomplish in the new month and work towards completing them. Setting goals is a great way to plan out your life and give yourself some sort of direction. For me it’s about trying and if I don’t succeed I move it to the next month until I do. Let’s review last month’s goals and how I got on…

August 2017 goals

August 2017 Goals

Though I enjoy putting goals together every month, I know nothing is set in stone. Life knows how to throw us curve balls and sometimes those curve balls can derail us from our tracks. With that being said, let’s see how I got on with the August 2017 Goals.

  • Savings – Partial Success, I am slowly but surely putting some funds aside for my post-graduate course.
  • Budgeting – Part Success, whilst I do budget I could certainly do better. August I spent way too much money which I could I put to better use.
  • Planning and Preparing – Failed, though I do not have any pre-course assignments I do have material to read. I am yet to print it and review it before my next module end of next month.
  • Self-Care time – Success, it has been great scheduling in some me-time and indulging into my guilty pleasures.

Even though I have not done pretty well with my August 2017 goals, I am glad with the progress. As I always say, if you don’t succeed try again until you do and it’s applicable with goals. All none accomplished goals will be moved to the new month and I will try a different approach.

September 2017 Goals

September is guaranteed to be a very busy month, with back to school in full swing and Autumn creeping in. I have a lot of goals I wish to accomplish this month but I am also a practical person.  Though I agree with this quote {If it doesn’t CHALLENGE you it won’t CHANGE you!!} I also believe in knowing your limits. With that in mind, here are my September 2017 Goals.

  • Planning and Preparing – Review the upcoming course material and prepare for the training. As I will be staying overnight, I have reserved a room at a nearby hotel.
  • Spend more time with Family – Last week I took a couple of days to spend time with my parents. It is always fun to be with and want to do that more. I have not seen my brother for the longest time same with my nephew, I need to visit. Though my sister and I spend time together, I want to do more of that.
  • Blog header design – I am looking to change-up my blog header and in search of a blog designer. If you know of anyone who doesn’t charge extortionate amounts then please recommend them.
  • Social media detox – As a self-confessed Social Media Addict I desperately need to work on this.
  • Relax and enjoy me – I think it is important to always allocate some time to yourself outside just sleeping. I am hoping to make some time for me this month and indulge into my guilty pleasures.

And there you have it, the September 2017 goals and hope to accomplish them this month. Do you set monthly goals? What is the one thing you wish to accomplish this month?

I’m such a procrastinator. I always wait until the last minute for everything. I still love setting goals though, it’s so important.

This is such a great idea! I’m working on budgeting as well – I think writing down some of my goals might help me as well!

I have set my goals for this year but not on a monthly basis. It will be great to do it every month to really see the progress. And I also believe that you should put a time limit on your goals so you will not be complacent and really pursue it.

Well done on all you managed to do in August and good luck with your September goals, I think we all need a social media detox from time to time.

I’ve had a goal for the whole of this year. Wait until September before making any goals! My son stars reception on Tuesday and my youngest son will be in childcare 2 days a week, so I can finally start planning my workload and build my business. So that’s my goal for September x

I have spurts on setting goals, and then I lapse. It certainly makes a difference to my productivity if I have clear goals set out. I can’t recommend anyone who does headers sorry, but I would choose with care and even pay a little more to get something unique. So many blogs have the same style of illustration that they all look very similar.

Thanks love, this is why I am willing to pay as I honestly don’t want a header like everyone else has.

As for goals, work with what you can manage to begin with, aka set no goals one month then some the next month etc

It’s great how you set yourself monthly goals and then review them. I’m hopeless at that. I could do with a social media detox though!

I tend to set my goals very high. Sometimes I feel I am too hard on myself, but it helps me to stay focused. And when I am able to achieve at least 50 percent, it does not seem so bad at the end of the day.xx

It’s so important to set yourself goals – I find if I don’t have some sort of deadline, time has a tendency of running away with me! But as you say, it’s also important to not be too hard on ourselves when things don’t work out.

I completely agree – spending more time with the family is a lovely goal to make. I also need to do a social media detox at some point, it all gets too much every now and again!
