The Sunday Currently December 2019 is the last monthly series of the year and I want to spell out the things I am most looking forward to this month. I am a great believer in taking a moment to review the past and plan for the future at the start of each month. December is a specially busy month thanks to the festivities and end of year work commitments. This month it will especially busy thanks to all the amazing trips planned before the month ends.
As we start the last month of not only a year but a decade, I thought for the Sunday Currently December 2019 edition I wanted to share some of the changes I have experienced in the last 10 years. It is weird to think that at the end of this month, it will be a whole decade that has passed. This time 10 years ago I was just getting the hang of being a university student and 10 years later I would still be my university and life long friends.
Whilst it is impressive that we’ve been friends for 10 years, what is even more impressive is knowing I have such amazing friends in my life. In the Sunday Currently December 2019 I will not only focus on the changes I have experienced but also appreciating the amazing things that have happened this year and what I am most looking forward in 2020.
Sunday Currently December 2019
The Sunday Currently December 2019 is one of the monthly series post that I am most excited to share. In part it is due to the festivities but mostly it is due to the fact that the year is coming to and end and its been 10 years since I met some amazing people. In the last 10 years I have realised its hard to make life long friends who you can trust with anything and everything. Before I get carried away, here is the Sunday Currently December 2019 edition.
- Reading: I am currently reading ‘Why I am no longer talking to white people about race‘, this is such an insightful book and I recommend everyone regardless of your race to read it. The book is not meant to target our white friends but rather to educate everyone on racism, inequality and feminism (in a way).
- Writing: This post with several gift guides in draft, our latest gift guide is homeware themed.
- Listening: Nothing in particular but I have found myself listening to Beyonce and Ed Sheeran more in the last couple of days.
- Thinking: What I have accomplished in the last 10 years and I feel proud, I graduated with honours, got a job in the field I wanted and completed a master’s degree.
- Smelling: Nothing, still got a blocked nose
- Wishing: That this trip we are currently on wouldn’t end tomorrow.
- Hoping: For nothing other than good health for my friends and family, these days you can not take anything for granted.
- Wearing: Boots which I recently purchased from H&M and very excited about the look and quality of them.
- Watching: The Legends, a Chinese fantasy drama, an intense drama with turns on each chapter.
It is weird to think a whole decade is coming to a close, it makes you wander about what you’ve done in the last 10 years. I think reminiscing is both good for you but also bad in that most people will automatically switch comparing with other people. Remember, comparison is a thief of all joy, admire but do not compare, be inspired but do not compare. In the spirit if inspiring, here are some things that I feel I have accomplished in the last 10 years.
WHAT I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IN THE LAST DECADE
Remember, do not compare, we are all different people and what I consider an accomplish may not be the same for you. Focus on the positives and remember the learn from all the negatives you’ve endured in the last 10 years.
- September 2009 – Started university and finished May 2013
- September 2011 – Started a placement year with a big pharmaceutical company, the first student from my university to get the placement in 5 years.
- June 2013 – Started my first postgraduate job in the field I trained in and always wanted to work in.
- July 2013 – Started A July Dreamer, this blog and grown bounds and leaps.
- September 2017 – Started part-time Master’s program in a field related to my field and June 2019 completed the project.
- January 2015 – made my first £1000 in a month from the blog
- July 2017 – Completed my visit 30 countries before 30 and to date I have been to over 45 countries all thanks to the funds I make from the blog.
There are so many things I want to include but I wanted to focus on what I think are the big changes in my life. University was part of my life for 4 years, I made life time friends and learned a lot about my own capabilities. I included the blog because thanks to it I have made wonderful friends and I am able to earn a side income that supports my travel.

Well done you’ve achieved a lot. I’m a bit negative at the moment and look at all the things i haven’t managed to achieve instead of all the things I have!
