Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

The East London Hotel Bethnal Green

The East London Hotel is a newly opened hotel in the heart of Bethnal Green. It situated a few minutes walk from the underground station Bethnal Green and surround by trendy bars and restaurants. The hotel describes itself as ‘modern but unpretentious, comfortable but affordable‘, a statement which I agree with.

East London is up and coming with towns like Shoreditch and Bethnal Green leading the way. The East London Hotel is perfectly located, easy access to central London via London Tube. It also offers super-fast WiFi which as a blogger is very essential to be able to work as I relax.

The East London Hotel Review

The hotel is located on a former site of  Balls Brothers wine warehouse and though I love wine, I much rather love hotels. In hopes of giving you unbiased review, do give the Guardian’s review a read as well. In our article, we hope to share some facts, accommodation options, food & drinks and things for kids.

Having only opened in September 2018, The East London Hotel is geared to make your stay most comfortable. Checking into the property is as simple as anything, though its automated, staff are always on hand to help. Start with entering your email address associated with your booking, create a key and done. Check out is fairly similar, log in with your email address and check out, with an option to send an invoice to your inbox.

Accommodation Options

The hotel is equipped with 161 modern guest rooms with premium mattresses and bedding to aid a great night’s sleep. Various hotel room types are offered;

  • Standard Twin – offers two single beds in one room with enough space for luggage
  • Standard Double – compact but offers everyone needed to enjoy your stay
  • Premium Double – this is accessible for wheelchair users.
  • Family & Interconnecting rooms – hotel should be emailed to rest these types of rooms. Or better yet, when booking online, choose these room types.

All rooms are equipped with USB charging ports and art pieces from East London artists. Complimentary superfast wifi is also offered throughout the hotel. The rooms also have en-suite bathrooms with monsoon shower heads and Rituals bath products. TV’s in each room and a safe to store your valuables plus coffee machines. And it’s important to note, all rooms are air-conditioned and can change it up to match your needs.

Things for Kids to Do

The East London Hotel is family friendly offering sizeable air-conditioned rooms. Two lifts are available to reach the rooms but upstairs and in the basement making it accessible for buggies.

Across the street is a V&A children’s museum and to the left of the museum is the Museum Park. A short walk from the hotel towards Bethnal Green Station is the local library.

Food and Drink

The hotel has a restaurant and bar within the premises and offers healthy breakfast options. All the foods served are locally sourced offering seasonal ingredients from trusted locals. With the eco-friendly packaging, you can take away any foods purchased.

When it comes to breakfast we were impressed with the section of bagels, pastries and muffins. If you’re after something easy and simple they offer porridge and fruit salads. Freshly made smoothies and juices are available to order alongside your breakfast.

For those who enjoy a nice drink at the end of the day, cocktails are on offer from 5 pm till late. If cocktails are not your thing, craft beers from local East London breweries are on offer.

Depending on what you’re after, The East London Hotel aside from the aforementioned also offers lite bites and snacks. Breakfast starts at 7 thru to 11 in the morning then all-day dining is offered from 11 am thru to 9 pm.

Good to Know Information!

  • Flying from city airport or even London Stansted, local buses available close to the hotel.
  • Behind the hotel is a variety of restaurants and bar
  • Rooms have no telephone but offer what’s app as an alternative. We prefer this to a room phone, the team always on hand to assist.
  • Off street parking is available but at your own cost and risk

We enjoyed our stay at The East London Hotel, we found the staff very helpful and food delicious. After a long day trotting around East London earlier in the day, it’s exactly what we needed. The best was super comfortable, all their mattresses are made by Millbrook a British company.

The shower was invigorating and loved that I could choose been a normal shower heard and monsoon. I loved the Rituals shower/shampoo combo, the eucalyptus was so refreshing. We loved our stay and can not recommend it enough, perfect location and great staff.

Many people come to East London to buy South Asian dresses on the green street. Some of my friends come here from far a place. It’ll be good if I recommend this hotel to them.
