The Lady May Lodge |South Devon

During our recent weekend adventures to South Devon, our base was The Lady May Lodge. The Lady May is a lodge-style caravan located on Blue Water site in Dawlish Warren South Devon. If you’re after relaxation, the lodge offers impressive panoramic views of the Exe estuary.

Dawlish Warren is a seaside resort on the coast of Devon in Teignbridge in the town of Dawlish. The majority of Dawlish Warren is made up of holiday homes and open throughout the year. Located a mere 10 minutes walk from the Dawlish beach, The Lady May Lodge is perfect year round.

The Lady May Lodge is a cosy luxurious caravan site filled with quality furnished lodges. We would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and tranquil location but not far from all the action.

The Lady May Lodge Review

During our search for accommodation whilst in Devon, we chose the lodge because of proximity to the beach. Our second reason was the reviews and value for money of the accommodation. We were glad to have chosen this lodge because it is every and more than what we were anticipating.

Check-in starts at 3pm but we arrived a few hours earlier, Ruth was kind enough to get the place ready so we could check in early. We decided to have a walk around and went to the beach before having lunch at the pub by the sea.

Accommodation Options

The Lady May Lodge has similar accommodation and set all for all the lodges on the caravans site. Each lodge has two bedrooms; 1 double bed and 1 with two single beds, a bathroom and toilet, living area, dining and kitchen. Both the kitchen and dining area are in the open space area making them both spacious for a family of 4.

The kitchen is equipped with modern utilities; stove, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, toaster and more. Whilst the living room is equipped with two large 2-seater sofas, table, footstool, TV and a fireplace. The double bedroom has lots of clothing storage but not so much in the singles room.

The lodge has modern heating system can be turned up or down depending on the occupants needs. The living room and the bedrooms are fitted with radiators and the water is boiler heated. Finally the bathroom is medium signed with snow cubicle, toiletries storage and toilet.

Our Thoughts on The Lady May Lodge

Arriving at the lodge was a journey on its own, it had snowed heavily in Oxfordshire and our drive to Devon was slow. But when we arrived, we were surprised to find barely any snow in Devon, it was actually really warm. Ruth had kept us updated with the weather reports in Devon and glad we were able to make it.

When we arrived, Ruth was tidying up the lodge and just under an hour later it was ready. We had decided to take a walk around the area appreciating the weather and came back later. We were super impressed with the cosy feel of the lodge, the cleanliness of the place and facilities. Though it took a minute for the rooms to warm up, the living room was nice and toasty.

Sainsburys is only a 5 minute drive, we were able to buy some food and cooked at the lodge. All cooking equipments and some necessities (cooking oil, salt) are available in the house. We felt right at home cooking, cleaning, chatting, more cooking and eating. It was such a lovely day we spent at The Lady May Lodge.

When it came to sleeping, the beds where really comfortable and had a fresh scent. I am glad that Ruth looks after this place so diligently, I slept like a log which is unusual for me. When I visit new places, I struggle with sleeping but I didn’t experience that this time.
