Vienna has always been a place I have dreamed of visiting one day and long and behold my trip to Brno allowed me travel to Vienna too (I took a bus and it took only 1.45minutes).
Top Five (5) Must Visit in Vienna.
I took a bus from Brno to Vienna main bus station located next to the Standon, from the Standon I took the U2 line to all of the places mentioned below. I bought a 24 hour ticket which cost 7.60 euros. Dependent on which location you come from, locate the nearest station and connections to U2 or U4 lines are very easy.
Schönbrunn Palace & Tiergarten (zoo) – From Karlplatz, it is on U2 (purple) line and just a few stations away. The walk from Schönbrunn was fairly easy, when you come out of station it is on your right and there are many signs to direct you to the Palace as it is a popular destination throughout the year. I viewed the palace grounds before hiking up to the top to have an awesome view of the Palace grounds and beyond. I was able to see the zoo as well but was filled with families and kids so opted to just view from the outside.

Naschmarkt – The market lies neatly between Karlplatz and Kettenbruckengasse (Lines U2 or U4), I opted to take a train from Karlplatz but it is a walkable distance. The Naschmarkt has over 120 market stands and stretches over approximately 1.3km. The market is very colourful and welcoming, every Saturday there is a flea market event.

Museums Quarter – Another easy to locate tourist place, use the U2 line which is a 2 stops from Karlplatz. Here you will be treated to some nice museums including the museum of fine Arts.

St Stephen’s Cathedral – Whilst at Museums Quarter I decided to hop onto the Big Bus sightseeing bus which took me around to the popular attractions around Vienna including the Danube river which is shared with Bratislava, Prater , Augarten and Museums Hofburg.
Ressel Park – In my quest to get to Schönbrunn Palace I got lost and got on wrong line of the U2 and somehow found myself at Ressel PArk station, I decided to wander around and came across amazing architect work including the Vienna War Memorial.

Next time when I got to Vienna, I won’t so much rely on my need to do everything myself but to use the hop-on hop-off bus services to explore more areas. I paid 20 euros for the bus but it was totally worth it and I would do it again just maybe earlier in the day not the last bus (oops).
