Are you ready to Transition Your Summer Wardrobe to Autumn? I am someone who the minute the temperate drops, I bring out all my knitwear and ankle boots. Even though summer is my favourite season, autumn is a close second, thanks to the pumpkin lattes, hot chocolate, chunky scarves and velour loungewear. What I love about having an autumn wardrobe capsule, is that, apart from adding chunky knitwear, boots and tights, I don’t have to buy a new wardrobe.
But, if like me, you always love adding a piece or two as you Transition Your Summer Wardrobe to Autumn then do it. This autumn, I am thinking of adding a few nice pieces from ANGELEYE I am especially loving the items they have for wedding guests. I personally chose a gorgeous black lace fitted dress that I think is perfect for autumnal weddings and its the perfect ‘black dress’. Paired with black or nude heels, this fitted dress can be worn from work to dinner.

Personally, I am all about adding a few impressionable pieces that don’t cost the Earth and can easily be transitioned. But if you’re on a budget then I suggest you work with what you have with minimal to no purchases for the new season.
Transition Your Summer Wardrobe to Autumn
Whenever the weather drops a few notches I swap out all my camisole tops for t-shirts and chunky knits. I have a few trusted knitwear that I purchased many moons ago from H&M and New Year that still serves me well today. It pays to invest in good quality clothing that you can fall {pun intended} back on time and again. Good quality doesn’t always mean expensive, this mustard bubble sleeve cardigan is good quality and affordable from JYO.
As you look to Transition Your Summer Wardrobe to Autumn wardrobe, there are a few pieces which I know everyone already has in their wardrobe. These pieces will form the basis of your autumn wardrobe and from here you can decide if you need more items or not. The majority of your outfits will resemble your summer outfits with a small difference, your autumn outfits will be layered, I suggest you invest in a good faux leather jacket in black.

Transition Summer to Autumn: Layer Up
When it comes to layering, there is only one rule to follow – layer long over lean, this basically means wearing longer tops over tight or lean leggings or jeans. Following this rule will help you style effortlessly without looking bulky, a simple outfit suggestion is boyfriend cardigan over skinny jeans. This look is not only effortless but is stylish and can be worn anywhere from running errands to catching up with friends.
Transition Summer to Autumn: Add Tights
When it comes to adding tights to your autumn outfits I think you can go to town on how you style them. Cable knit tights have a lot of texture that you can play around with, following the long over lean rule, you can replace tight jeans with cable knit tights, replace boyfriend cardigan with faux leather jacket and a tunic inside. But if you’re someone like me who does not like wearing tights then I would suggest investing in good quality leggings.

Keep Your Summer Dresses
I am a sucker for a good maxi dress but I always feel like I never wear them enough during the summer months. Last autumn, I realised I didn’t have to pack them up as soon as the temperature dropped, instead I can style them up with a nice faux leather jacket and ankle boots. Other ways that I love to dress my summer dresses up during autumn is by adding a chunky knit cardigan or a belted blazer, both look effortlessly stylish.
Invest in quality boots
The only reason I love autumn so much is that I can pull out my huge box of ankle boots that I spent pretty pennies on. As much as I love knee-high boots, ankle boots are some of my favourite type of shoes that I would be happy to wear year-round. There are a few pairs that I pull out every season, these are boots that are an investment and are of great quality. Both Clarks and Brantano are brands that I always look to for good quality boots and shoes in general.

Add a splash of colour
When I think of autumnal colours, I think brownish brown, pumpkin, purple, hues of red and maroon. Generally speaking, every season I inject various colours to my wardrobe to match the season and other times I just go with the glow. There are no rules to follow when it comes to autumn, I say go as bright as you want or as dark as you feel. This autumn I am gravitating towards red and maroon and these are the colours I am filling my wardrobe with.
Statement Outerwear
If you’re anything like me, the minute the temperature drops, you pull out all your outerwear from chunky knits all the way to cargo jackets. I have an arsenal of outerwear, enough to open my own autumn and winter collection of outerwear what I do however lack is blazers and cargo jackets. I own one of each but feel a few more would be ideal as both pair well over skinny jeans and summer dresses too.
If you’re unsure about what outerwear to invest in I would recommend a faux leather jacket, being or lime green cargo jacket, navy blue or caramel trench coat. But if you have a tight budget them either a faux leather jacket or trench coat would be a great investment for autumn. As both can be paired over skinny jeans, summer dresses, with tights or leggings and will still be a sight of sophistication.

Whilst I am not a fan of autumn showers, I am looking forward to much cooler temperatures so I have an excuse to always work from the comfort of my chunky knitted throw. I am not big on pumpkin lattes but its tradition to always have a couple before they are out of season. What is your favourite thing about autumn?

Living in Scotland, there’s not a huge difference between my summer and my Autumn wardrobe. Haha. No, just kidding. Bring on the knitwear and the wooly hats! (though I do wear my hat pretty much all year round)

Some great ideas on how to transition into autumn. I like to also wear my summer dresses with a cosy cardigan. I don’t like getting too hot, so I love to layer too.
