New York City, for us gossip girl lovers it was and still is the top place to visit in the states. Regular readers know I had been looking for travel inspiration and the Travel Name Game gave me New York. I have had the pleasure of setting foot in New York before but for business purposes only. I managed to was walk through Times Square, saw Trump Towers and strolled through Central Park.
As with most places that I visit, I like to do a bit of shopping and New York was no exception. For my next visit I am planning on doing as much shopping as I possibly could. Obviously that will require me to save up a little in advance of the trip but that’s ok.
With the holidays fast approaching everyone who hasn’t yet booked will be searching for some New York offers. I for one am considering a trip to the amazing concrete jungle called New York. Here is a list of places I would love to visit when I am next in New York.
10 Things {I would like} To Do in New York
Rockefeller Center
Commissioned by the Rockefeller family it was declared a national landmark in 1987 and spans across fifth avenue and 6th. It is located in midtown Manhattan it’s a large complex with 19 high story buildings. I am curious to visit this center mostly to shop, done and take a tour of the center.
Fifth Avenue
Also located in Manhattan is an area filled with a plethora of shops, cafes, museums, restaurants and much more. Those who know me know I am a sucker for some retail therapy and with fifth avenue I will be right at home. Though is might be a little bit out of my leave, I don’t think it hurts to check it out.
Brooklyn Bridge
Originally called New York and Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in New York. The bridge is a historic landmark view by millions everywhere and on every New York bucketlist.
Statue of Liberty
The roman goddess represents freedom and serves as an icon to immigrants arriving in the states. It was originally constructed in France by the same one who helped build the Eiffel Tower. It is national monument located on liberty island in Manhattan and a major tourist attraction.
Staten Island Ferry
If you’ve seen the 2008 Th Dark knight movie you will have seen how they renamed this to Gotham Island Ferry. I am a sucker for a good ferry and always look for ways to get on one to cross the English Channel. Getting on the Staten Island Ferry would be a sure way of seeing the New York boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island itself.
One World Trade Center
Also known as 1 WTC is now the tallest building in New York City and sixth in the world was opened in November of 2014. Everyone knows about September 11th and the horrific acts that happened, I think it’s important to pay my respects. After from that they is also the observatory that gives unparalleled views of Brooklyn, Manhattan and New Jersey.
Grand central station
A gorgeous and huge atrium with grandeur ceilings a centre of all the hustling and bustling of the metro system. Located in midtown Manhattan, grand central attracts millions of tourists everyday and I will be one of them. I hope to one day take the train from grand station to new haven or Westchester I haven’t decided on which yet.
Battery Park
Located at the edge of southern Manhattan is a public park named for the artillery batteries once positioned in the city. It would be awesome to check out Castle Clinton and also the Battery Gardens restaurant for some snacks for a picnic. The park is also famous for the memorials erected after the 9/11 attacks close by to the park.
The Empire State Building
One of the tallest completed skyscrapers in the United States and an iconic landmark in New York City. On my last visit to the city I was able to take a quick look at the building but unfortunately never got close enough. I plan to book my tickets in advance when I next visit and take all the tours available.
Canal Street
A visit to the concrete jungle wouldn’t be complete without ducking into the ever so busy canal street. I am a sucker for a bargain even though I don’t know how to haggle. Canal street mixed in with Chinatown means there will be loads of fake everything but then again you’re not going for the original.

I have never had the opportunity to go to New York (yet) but it is on my bucket list of places to try. I really want to go and take a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise and sunset. I think it is a stunning structure

Yes to all of them! I’ve never been to New York but it’s very high on my wishlist, it seems like the kind of place you could visit for a month and never do the same thing twice.

Yay! What a great list of places!! I’ve been to NYC twice (mostly for the art galleries and sightseeing!). The Moma art gallery was absolutely incredible (if you’re into that kinda thing) and I loved the Empire State Building and the Rockerfeller Centre too! I also visited Chinatown, without realising it was Chinese New Year that day – it was such a surprise to suddenly find myself surrounded by all the celebrations! <3 xxx

I saw most of these when I went to new York, but that was about 8 years ago and I’d love to go back one day and take the kids. I think they would love ice skating in central park and visiting the statue of liberty.

So many good suggestions – I’d also recommend the Staten Island Ferry because it is free and means you can see the Statue of Liberty really well 🙂
