Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

11 Life Goals To Follow | May 2019

At the beginning of every month, I take a moment to write down new goals for the month. This month is no different, I have decided to put together 11 life goals to follow for a more happier life. I am often asked why I set monthly goals and I often respond; when I set goals, I immediately have a long-term vision and monthly goals become a short-term motivation.

Every month end, I take a moment to review previous months goals and adjust the steps I set to accomplish goals accordingly. I am a strong believer in reviewing goals regularly and I adjust the steps I planned to use to accomplish goals. It is important to ensure you do not change the goals themselves but rather your plan of execution.

11 Life Goals To Follow

Setting goals can be as easy as pie when you have an objection and a dream to accomplish. More often than not, I find myself doubting my own goals and have to rethink my plans. This is a normal part of being an adult aka adulting.

Adulting, defined as a behavioural characteristic of a responsible adult who often accomplishes mundane but necessary tasks. It’s not often I feel like adulting but thankfully, I have life goals that I often follow that enable me to manage this adulting gig.

This month I am hoping these 11 life goals to follow will help me in my pursuit of self happiness.

  • Sleep More – this is something I am severely lacking in of late due to crazy deadlines.
  • Exercise More – I have been flanking at this more than ever and I need to address.
  • Drink More Water – another thing I am bad at but working hard to change.
  • Clean more often – now, whilst I have a clean and am a fairly clean person, there is room for improvement.
  • Relax more – another thing I need to work on, I am almost always on the go and need to relax more.
  • Have more patience – this is a work in progress, I thought I was a patient person but maybe not.
  • Travel more – this is something I chose to reduce in 2019 but realise I am always happy when I travel
  • Read often – I have always loved reading but been slacking big time over the last few years. This year I am hoping to change that and already on book 2 which is incredible.
  • Be more organised – Another skill that I need to improve, my organisation skills have been lacking of late.
  • Be yourself – everyone once in a while compares themselves to others, I am no exception but I have been working on myself lately.
  • Eat more veggies – my mother will laugh at this, I am not a lover of veggies but improving slowly just no kale.

Whilst I have more than 11 life goals to follow, these will do for now as I focus on things that make me happier. What are some of goals you want to accomplish this month?

Setting goals always seems like such a daunting task to me, but your list doesn’t seem too hard to achieve. Maybe I need to start with some simple goals.

I definitely need to sleep more. I used to have a few early nights each week but now I can’t seem to get to sleep before 11pm.

This is a super goal list, and not unlike something I should be striving to achieve too! I could do with improvements in all those areas except exercise: that’s the one thing I’m quite proud I keep up with.

I think it’s really useful to set goals. And, as you say it’s important to track them and adjust your plans on how to achieve them as you go along.

It can be so hard to stick to goals, but I agree that it is great to make them. I need to start making more time to relax.

It can be hard but with good routine and discipline, it is possible to stick to the realistic goals.

So good to have goals like this. I need to clean up my eating (I eat a lot of sugar on top of what it otherwise a great healthy diet) and to be better at going to bed in the evenings

I am the same, I have an ok diet but the sugar content is what makes it unhealthy. I am working on improving this.

I’m also a strong believer in reviewing goals regularly. I haven’t set any goals recently, but I am currently making a list of 30 things I’d like to do before I turn 30 next year. So far it’s mainly a list of countries and cities I’d like to visit!

Same, I think reviewing goals regularly helps you track your progress plus is motivating when you’re ticking items off. Good luck with your 30 before 30. I did it and it was the best thing ever.

I should write monthly goals, it’s a great way to motivate yourself. Exercise more is on my list and I’m really trying to do as much as I can.
