{2017} Why should you have a Winter Beauty Routine?

Why should you have a winter beauty routine? What’s so important about having a beauty routine that you stick to and can fall back on whenever? Depending on where you are, it might be winter or it might be summer. If it’s summer then you need my Summer Face Routine. For those whose weather is currently winter, let’s talk about why it’s important to have a winter beauty routine.

Why should you have a winter routine

Now many people think beauty routines are complicated or not there thing but trust me your skin will thank you. I was like you once, soap and water was as far a beauty routine as I went. After I started blogging I got introduced to so many brands of products that I knew of or never heard of. I quickly learnt products with Salicylic Acid where not my friends as they made my nose peel. Products with Hyaluronic acid or ginseng where my best friends.

With that knowledge came the understanding of what works for my oily skin. I also came to appreciate that oily skin is actually good type of skin if well looked after. Don’t hate your oily skin embrace it, the released oils actually protect your skin. But they can also clog your pores if you don’t have a good routine.

Why should you have a winter routine?

Just like summer, changes in the weather can affect our skin greatly. In the harsh of  winter, your skin is battered so much by the elements causing it to:

  • Lose its moisture
  • Lose natural moisturising oils (oily face)
  • Causes it to be dry, itchy and tight
  • Can cause breakouts
  • Flakiness

These are just some of the effects winter has on your skin so it’s important to have a good winter beauty routine. Now having a routine doesn’t mean you have to completely replacing your daily products. You might have to if the products are not heavy enough to protect the skin from losing all its moisture. As mentioned above I use products with Hyaluronic Acid because it’s naturally found in the body. Though over time we lose it so I replace it with products made with Hyaluronic Acid as the active ingredient.

Do you have a winter beauty routine? What products do you use to protect your skin against the harshness of winter?

This is definitely important. My skin definitely changes in the winter and is more dry. I have to really stay on top of my son’s skin in the winter because his skin cracks and bleeds.

The only thing that really changes in my skin routine for winter is a different kind of moisturiser as the one I use in the summer doesn’t stop my skin from becoming dry as much. The rest stays relatively the same. My lips are a lot worse than my face for becoming dry and chapped in the winter.

During the summer, I tend to switch between different brands of moisturizer, but during the cold winter season, I run back to my trusted brand, Neutrogena. They do keep my skin supple, moisturized and soft in this cold and dry weather.

Oh I use skin products religiously! Honestly if a person is going to do the minim of a “beauty routine” moisturizer is the #1 MUST! I taught my husband to use that daily at the very least! Winter is crucial – people tend to think summer is most important due to the sun, and it is important but dry winds can really do damage to the skin too. Our face is right out there and most vulnerable! Great informative article! There are tons of great product but anything is better than nothing at all.
