Dinner at London Street Brasserie Reading

The London Street Brasserie is an award winning restaurant located alongside River Kennet in Reading. Owned by Paul Clerehugh, the London Street Brasserie has been serving up a storm since 2000. For this year’s work Christmas meal, we decided to have Dinner at London Street Brasserie Reading.  

Like most companies, every year end we arrange a Christmas meal somewhere local for majority. This year we had Dinner at London Street Brasserie Reading as  its one place we haven’t tried. The London Street Brasserie Reading, has a reputation for being posh and expensive and is always packed.

For our 2018 Christmas meal, we decided we wanted to go all out as its a last for many of us. The restaurant is located within walking distance from the train station and next to the Oracle Shopping centre.

Dinner at London Street Brasserie Reading

The London Street Brasserie in Reading is a Michelin stared restaurant offering fine dinning to its customers. Originally the building housing the restaurant was a Toll House on Duke Street Bridge and was built in 1750. Chef Paul Clerehugh bought the building to create the London Street Brasserie.

Prior to our Dinner at London Street Brasserie, we did not know that this restaurant is famous with celebrities too. Kate Price, Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber and many more have been guests of this lovely establishment in past years. We were happy to be at this affordable Michelin restaurant and had a great evening. 

Our Dinner at London Street Brasserie Reading started at 7pm and our table was on the top floor. We are a lovely view of the River Kennet and all the eateries located alongside it. The weather was cooler but not windy nor raining with was a bonus.

{1} London Street Brasserie – Starters

Though in hand sight I would have been better off without the starter, it was absolutely delicious. My only regret is I was filled by the starter that I did not have much room for the main meal. Regardless, I think I had such a wise choice when I chose the Half freshly prepared lobster. Crispy bacon. Parmesan crisp. Avocado Caesar. Best lobster I have ever had, everything about the dish was salivating and delicious.

{2} London Street Brasserie – Mains

As mentioned above, I regretted the starter because it hindered my enjoyment of the mains. I was seriously looking forward to eating the Roast cod. Tempura soft shell crab. Bok choi. Rice noodle laksa. Lime. Coriander. The cod was cooked to perfection, the coriander wasn’t overpowering and laksa was deliciously soft. It was a huge shame that I was too full to touch the shell crab as it looked absolutely delicious.

{3} London Street Brasserie – Dessert

Though I was took stuffed to polish off my mains, I had enough room for the dessert. I don’t know about you but I have a separate stomach when it comes to dessert. It doesn’t matter just how full I am, when it comes to dessert, I always have space. I knew from the moment I sat down that I wanted the Crème brûlée. Stem ginger brandy snap for dessert. It was everything yummy and the stem ginger brandy snap was a nice twist. 

We had such a lovely time at the London Street Brasserie, the dinner went smoothly and fun all round. Whilst our bill came to a shocking £350, £70pp, I think it was worth the money for a 3-course meal. This includes the wine and various drinks we ordered on a table of 5. Our 3-course meal is from the Christmas Menu which costs £38pp.
