Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨

{Fashion Monday} Embrace the Heels

Embrace the heels! Hmmm, really? Yes really and why because heels adds to your already existing sexiness. But not all of us like wearing heels so how can one learn to embrace the heels? Well simples, just wear block heels and you’re sorted. Honestly that’s it, because most of us think heels, stilettos to be exact are the only slim death contraptions that some man designed to screw us over.

No! those are not the only heels that can (1) stand out (2) make your look even more sexy and (3) the only ones that can be considered as heels.

Embrace the heels

When I was at university, a little over 3 years ago now, I never wore anything less than 4 inch heels when going out. I love(d) my heels and I wasn’t going to compromise. Fast forward to today and I feel like my death contraptions are plotting to kill me because even the thought of wearing heels make me mentally tired so I stopped wearing them. That’s until my mum reminded me stilettos heels are not the only heels one can wear. I went home, check my closet and found I have a few block heels that I never even worn.

Embrace the Heels.

There is no time like the present to start something new, so yesterday I decided to go to Swindon for church and thought what better way to start retraining myself to embrace the heels than to wear them to church and then to lunch/shopping in Oxford with my sister. I won’t lie and say they didn’t start to hurt after 4 hours because they did but if I think about it, I spent over 4 hours wearing heels. That’s an achievement on its own and I am glad I have started to slowly embrace the heels and hope to continue.

I paired my block heels with ripped jeans and simple top and had minimal jewellery as it’s summer and I don’t like to overdo it.

Ladies, how do you feel about wearing heels? Are you up to try and embrace the heels? When was the last time you wore heels?

Eeek I don’t think you are ever going to convince me. Every pair I have ever put on have been excruciating within a few steps – like bleeding feet painful. I can’t walk in them, I fall over, I feel self-conscious. I really hate even a slight heel! I think the last time I wore a pair was bout 8 years ago before I was married and they were off my feet within minutes of getting where I was going! Some do look very pretty, but they’re just too painful for me!

I hated heels for years because I found them so uncomfortable. Then I had to buy a pair for a formal event and bought a pair that was actually comfortable! I really didn’t realize that some are SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable than others. I still only wear them for formal occasions but it was a really eye opening revelation.

Before I had children I lived in heels and had trouble wearing them all da and night. Now I just don’t get the chance to wear them and my feet are not used to it anymore.

I think once you give them up its harder to go back into them that when you’re first trying them out

I don’t usually wear heels that often but when I do I love to wear wedges or block heels as they much easier to walk in.

I love heels, but wear wedges the most as I always seem to fall over in kitten heels!

I love heels, block, platform, stilettos. I feel I need a heel for everything, from the car to the chair heels aka sitting pretty, dancing shoes etc LOL but block heels are a God send x
