Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Fall wardrobe essentials

Fall wardrobe essentials, the idea behind this it to share essential items one should have to prepare for fall. What I love about fall is you don’t necessary need a new wardrobe but instead improvise and re-purpose. If you looked at some of your summer items you know you can still wear them during fall season. Others with a bit of layering or adding tights would transform them from summer to fall items.

The fall wardrobes essentials list will give you an idea of items you can transition over and save you money. As much as I love shopping I am also conscious of budget restraints that I myself have currently. Re-purposing clothes for the new season is the best way to save your wallet. So here are the items that should be included in your fall wardrobe essentials.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials for 2017

Leather jacket are a staple in every women’s wardrobe because they are so easy to style. Plus you just need to have one and it will match so many outfits and can be worn year round. I have had mine going on 4 years now and thought it’s not real leather, it has lasted me this long. When I got it in new look it was a bit pricey £34.99 but I felt it was worth the investment and it truly is. During fall season you can still wear some summer clothing and add leather jacket to transition it.

Oversized cardigan or coats

Whilst oversized coats don’t work well on me oversized cardigans do and I love having them. The beauty is you can wear them casually to run errands, lounge at home or even date night. There are multiple ways you can style oversized cardigans and coat and make them look stylish.

Canvas and ankle boots

The weather is changing and so we have to change the shoes to match it as well. Most of us it won’t be much of a change because we’ve been wearing these throughout summer. I have practically lived in canvas shoes throughout summer and a couple of times in ankle boots. The British weather definitely was out of service therefore we had fewer days of sandals and flip-flops. We had more days of ankle books and canvas making the transition to fall season an easy one.

Loafers

Loafers are definitely news ones to me as I have often chosen canvas over loafers. Though they can make an outfit look smart and stylish I just never warmed to them. When a fellow blogger shared outfits that go well with loafers, I was hooked.  Now I am looking at outfits that I can rock to work whilst wearing loafers.

Skinny and boyfriend jeans

You can never go wrong with having jeans in your wardrobe, be it skinny or boyfriend jeans. I like having both because when trying to dress smart casual skinny is your friend. For the days when you want to be dressed up but still comfortable, boyfriend jeans are it. The beauty about both these types is of jeans is how easy they are to style and how versatile they are too.

Scarves

Having a scarf in your closet is a must whether you have British kind of weather or not. They are stylish, very versatile and can be worn with practically anything. Dependent on the type you choose, they can be worn as neck accessories or as hair ties. Some can be worn as sarong especially when you you’re in need of one can can’t find one. I love scarves, they can truly transform an outfit to make it or break it.

And their you have it, fall wardrobe essentials. You don’t have to buy a new wardrobe maybe a couple of items but I bet you already have 90% of these items.

You can definitely play with more layers for fall. Scarves and oversized cardigans can be an added accessory since it’s not heavy and can be flexible.

I really like those embroidered jeans. So pretty! I do have some oversized coats too. But mostly I wear my jeans and t-shirts all year long. I just switch to long sleeved t-shirts when it gets cold, and I do have some sweaters.
