Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

May 2018 Highlights: Travel|Work|Blogging

One of my favourite quotes reads: “Life can be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards”. This quote perfectly sums up what I am trying to achieve with the May 2018 Highlights post. It is important to take time to reflect on the past, learn from it and avoid same mistakes.

Last month I shared my first ever monthly highlights post; April 2018 Highlights and covered a couple of topics. These were Travels I went on, my current day job and Blogging – next month I will be celebrating 5 years of blogging. With that being said, let’s dive into the May 2018 highlights and share an overview of the month.

May 2018 Highlights

May 2018 Highlights: Where did I travel to?

When it comes to traveling, I pride myself in finding the most affordable deals on the market. Whilst April was a crazy month of travel, May was equally crazy but much more manageable. I am fortunate to have friends all over the world, one such friend is in South Korea. With my other American friend we went off to Seoul and spent a good ten days there.

As if that wasn’t enough, at the beginning of the month I managed to take my parents abroad. I have a list in my head of places I want them to visit and think they will definitely enjoy. Barcelona was such a city for us and we had such a lovely time. I am excited to find another place abroad to take my parents I know they enjoy the traveling as well.

BARCELONETA BEACH| MAY 2018 ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Today was such a fun filled day with my parents. I made a secret promise to them in my heart that 2018 i would take them on my trips across #europe and I am glad to slowly be fulfilling that. January 2018: Toulouse, France February 2018: Tuscany, Italy April/May 2018: Barcelona, Spain Whilst I haven’t booked our next adventure together I am excited for it already. As i have grown older I have started to love spending more time with my parents. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ #europeandestinations #barcelona #familyholiday #uktravelblogger #spain #take12trips

May 2018 Highlights: How’s Work?

I wish I could say, work is going great and couldn’t be happier but alas it’s not. Don’t get me wrong, I still love and enjoy my work it’s just lots has changed. As many know change is not always welcome even when it is for the best. I miss a lot of my former colleagues but the challenge work is giving me is exactly what I need.

Work for me needs to be challenge to keep me interested and on my tops. If I am not motivated to work, I get bored easily and would rather do something else. It is why I am grateful my current day is super busy and challenging enough. But what comes with challenges is the stress when everything goes tits up, which is always a bummer.

Summer Travel Plans

May 2018 Highlights: Are you still blogging?

I am shocked that come July I will be celebrating 5 years of blogging, where has the time gone. Even as I type this post I am still in shock because I did not honestly think I would still to it. Blogging is challenging and very engaging, maybe this is why I am still at it. I am very fortunate to be able to make money from it this blog and turn it into a small business.

Over the last few weeks I have been asking myself, why did I start blogging? Have I been sticking true to myself or have I lost myself along the way. Blogging for me was always a hobby and part of it will always be such but its a business too. It took me a while to actually accept the business part of it, as it means this is work now. I have variable working hours, aka before work, during lunch, after work and weekends. This is enough to drive anyone insane as it takes away from the free time I actually have.

I am all about personal care and making time for myself, I like to have social media detox days too. This can be hard especially when I have so many commitments to be fulfil. But if there is one thing I have learnt in the last few months, burn out are not attractive.

And there you have it, my May 2018 Highlights, a lot little late but better than never.
