{Travel} #Take12Trips Travel Challenge ~ Month Nine

Month nine of the #take12trips travel challenge feels like it creeped up on me when I was not looking. The months seem to be moving ever so fast, the days and weeks even faster. Everyday I ponder about what I want my tomorrow travels to look like and I still come up blank. I am spontaneous person by nature, the spur of the moment decisions are what I thrive at. This side of me I do not want to give up on but I know one day I will have to.

when I shared month eight, I mentioned to you how my parents always ask me first which country I am in before every conversation. It’s funny to think how much my life has changed over the last 3 years. I have traveled more this year than any other time in my entire life. It has been truly liberating to bask in the pleasures of travel that The Lord has afforded me. As a child my father always used to tell my siblings and I how blessed we are, as an adult I am starting to truly feel the blessings. When you’re young, it’s not easy to believe people when they say you’re blessed when you are lacking certain things. Looking back at all the challenges we’ve faced in our lives as a family, we are blessed.

month nine - #take12trips

Many might be confused why this is month nine instead of month eight. I started this challenge last year December, i refused to wait for January before I could start. ‘Why put off something you can do today for tomorrow, tomorrow is not promised you’. This has been my motto for a while and has saved me a great deal, I no longer procrastinate I take action.

Month Nine – #Take12Trips

During the month of July I did two trips; Dublin, Ireland and Copenhagen, Denmark. Copenhagen was by far the most expensive trip I have done during this travel challenge. Because I stupidly chose to travel during the summer period, the flights where sky-high in cost. Another huge mistake on my part was booking the flights two days before I due to leave. I should have booked earlier but I had no spare cash, no point crying over spilt milk.

Regular readers know I love nothing more than plotting my next adventure. I have mentioned countless times that you don’t have to wait till January to join this challenge, you can join any time. You also do not need to travel abroad all the time to participate. I made a personal decision to do mostly travel abroad, so I can visit more countries and tick off my bucketlist.

Dublin, Ireland.

This was my first time heading to Ireland, I was looking forward to seeing my ‘instant friends‘ I met in Hamburg, Germany. We met at the youth weekend, I will never forget how we met and become instant friends. We named ourselves ‘temptation‘ so befitting of us, 3 girls and 1 dude. I kept saying to one of our leaders that I would lead the young man into temptation oops. Of all the things we did in Dublin, the most memorable was spending time with each other and visiting the Irish Whiskey Museum.

Dublin

Copenhagen, Denmark

This trip is as clear as day in my mind. I managed to convince one of my ‘instant friends’ to join me, lucky he did and made this trip even more memorable. Because I arrived earlier than him, I was able to check out quite a lot of places alone. But the most memorable of this trip was taking a free walking town operated by ‘Copenhagen Free Walking Tours’. I had never done a guided walking tour before, this was fresh and innovative. Our guide was knowledgable in Danish history and he made the tour very interactive and fun.

Copenhagen

Month nine started with a bang (Dublin) and ended with a boom (Copenhagen), I am so glad I went. I might be skint right now but I wouldn’t change anything for the world. I feel very privileged to be able to travel as often as I do whilst surviving on my own two feet. Putting everything in God’s hand and believing in everything he’s doing in my life has been the best decision ever.

Have you ever been to either of these two places? If you ever get a chance, I say go.

You’ve been through a lot of places! It’s funny that your parents ask you where you are, that means they’re used to the lifestyle that you have right now. I think it’s great that you started early December, the earlier the better.
