Weekend getaway skincare Routine

At least one weekend a month I am in some country abroad for a weekend getaway as part of my #take12trips travel challenge which I decided to join last December. It been fun so far jetting around Europe trying to see as much of our continent as I can fit in one weekend without breaking the bank. Whilst jetting off into the cities unknown is fun and rewarding, it can take a toll on your skin hence why I decided to share my weekend getaway skincare routine.

I have mentioned many times on the blog how I have ‘the back-up’ products for my face when I am transitioning from my brand to the next, you can read more HERE.

Clockwise (L-R): Garnier cleansing wipes, Ahava age control serum, L’Oreal true match foundation, Bobbi Brown foundation stick, Make-up Gallery pump up mascara, Too cool for school oil control primer and Ahava age control sleeping cream.

Though I am not exactly a beauty blogger, I do review beauty products and as such I have been fortunate enough to receive many products over the course of three years and it’s been a pleasure trying them all. The majority of the products I received are travel sized and those that ain’t well they are still lovely to try.

Regular readers of this blog will remember my review of the AHAVA products which I am still loving to this day and take them with me every time I travel. As mentioned already though I am not a beauty blogger, the products I am sharing in this post are what had worked for me and help me maintain my ‘youth‘ even as the stresses of travel takes its town on my face and body.

Cleansing – Whether we talking about the body or just the face, cleansing is always the first step to prep the body or face. In this post we are focusing solely on the face skincare routine. When I am traveling, it is not always that I return after a long day exploring the new city that I get chance to shower before bed so instead I have made things easier on myself by buying the Garnier cleansing wipes which if I am honest have made things so much easier for me on my travels.

Moisturize – Moisturizing the face takes many forms, when I am home I use a toner right after cleansing then once toner is absorbed I used the serum, essence and emulsion before I apply my moisturizing cream. When traveling I do not have time for all these steps so instead I just pack my serum and moisturizing cream.

Make-up – I have mentioned many times on this blog and other platforms that I am not really into makeup except for lipsticks but because my oily skin drives me insane I like to try my luck with my new primer from Too cool for school then use my L’Oreal true match foundation, my Bobbi Brown foundation stick which takes the place of highlighter since I bought the wrong shade in Sephora last year. Once this is in place I then like to use my mascara which has been a new addition since I completely stopped wearing mascara for the last few years.

Those who know me you will you, I am the advocate for simple routines, I don’t like to complicate things or waste time of things I have little to no interest in but when it comes to taking care of my skin and as much as my simple-do attitude still prepares I will take a minute or two just to ensure I have cleansed and moisturized my face before bed because there is nothing worse than sleeping with make-up on which clogs your pores and during the night when your body its secreting impurities they can’t come out because the pores are blocked so they get clogged and you get pimples.

Always take time to look after your face, and as much as plastic surgery is there, you can’t do it forever but you can make a difference for your skin and keep it ‘Au natural’ for as long as possible.

Do you have a skincare routine for your face? What do you think of my weekend getaway skincare routine?

It’s really nice to have a back-up go to product when you are reviewing something for the skin. Your skin is able to “breathe” after the review.
