How-to make money Blogging {+ Passive Income Q1 2018}

I am sure by now you’ve read countless posts on how to make money blogging from all sources. You just need to type in ‘How-to make money blogging’ into Pinterest to find a multitude of ways. One thing that I find frustrating is most of the articles are either, affiliate marketing, e-book sales or even coaching. Whilst this seems to be the most common way of earning money via the blog, there are other ways. In this article, I will share how-to make money blogging without affiliate marketing.

Before I share tips on how to make money blog, here is some advice to new bloggers. When it comes to making money online, there are several revenues one might consider. I started this blog for the sole purpose of sharing my daily rants in life. At the stage I wasn’t think about social media followers, page views or other blogging stats. I was happy to notice 18 people had read my post, only to find its the 18 times I checked my own blog. Fast forward 5 years later and this blog as well as The Myrabev Life, are my side hassle that bring Passive Income.

Passive Income Report Q1 2018

Passive income is defined as income that is received from a regular cash flow requiring minimal effort to maintain it. Obviously those of us who’ve been earning something from our blogs know, it’s not consistent nor easy. Putting together the 2018 Passive Income Report Q1, I thought I share how-to make money blogging. I must also point out that, none of the money I make is from affiliate marketing.

In the End of Year Passive income report for 2017, I shared how I made almost £7000 as a part-time blogger. All of this income was made via various collaborations on A July Dreamer and a few on The Myrabev Life. Regular readers having read my monthly roundup post of sponsors would know we work with various sponsors. It is these incredible collaborations that has allowed me to earn passive income from this blog.

In the last three months (Jan-01-2018 thru to Mar-31-2018) I made just over £1,500; breakdown :

£1,494.91 {+ £100 pending} {-£37.98 paypal fees}

All this passive income is from sponsored posts that we’ve collaborated on with various sponsors. I did not start making this from day 1, it took me a year to make $20 which I celebrated. There are newer ways to make money online, from paid surveys to writing an e-book or coaching. Personally none of them are of interest to me, as a part-time blogger I am fortunate to make as much as I do. So how exactly do I make money blogging?

How-to make money Blogging {without affiliate marketing}

Blogging is no longer just a place online where people can share whatever but a new tool to make money. As mentioned, I didn’t start out this blog with the aim of making money. It was a fun online journal where I could rant about daily life and making new friends. When I stepped into the world of blogging, I didn’t know many had taken blogging to a whole new level.

Though not there yet, blogging is slowly being recognized not only as a way to make money but a real job. Freelancers or self-employed, whatever you want to call bloggers who’ve taken it to the next level. It is a great way to combine what you love and a making money career. But let me make it clear, it is not a walk in the park type of career, it’s a lot of hard work. Many bloggers make it so easy that often people join thinking, right, let’s make money. But what they do not see is the many hours needed to run a successful blog, the dedication and energy needed.

Ways to make money

• Join Facebook groups; Bloggers 2 Brands,
• Search twitter; #bloggersrequired #prrequest
• Register with blogger and influencer databases; Bloggers Required, BzzAgent
• Reach out to local PR companies and create relationships
• Do pro bono work, this is helpful when starting out but don’t go down the rabbit hole.

I am fortunate that I have built strong relationships with a few PR companies and come in handy. Others have been kind enough to recommend me to their colleagues, which has been great for me. Regardless of how you start out in blogging, consistency, good content, authenticity and loads of patience is required.
