Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨

How-to prepare your home for Spring Season

Are you looking for ways to prepare your home for spring season? Look no further, we have tips on how you can spruce up your home ready for summer adventures. Our homes get battered during the harsh winter months, Spring is the perfect time to take stock. In this article, we aim to share what you can do to prepare your home for spring/summer season.

PREPARE YOUR HOME

Spring 2018 in the Northern hemisphere seems to be somewhat elusive, secretly battling winter. It is weird to think May is here and we still have the heating on at home. Normally around this time of year, heating would have been off for weeks. But nonetheless we still have to make time to take stock of what might need sprucing up.

How-to prepare your home for Spring Season

One thing I love about Spring is the beautiful blossoming of colourful flowers in the streets and gardens. There is something about a flowering plant that makes everything look pretty and relaxing. I always feel the need to bring that type of feeling into my home when Spring springs forward. If you want to bring that feeling into your home, here is how you can prepare your home.

PREPARE YOUR HOME

ONE: Examine the Exterior

The outside of the house is the one that takes the brute force of all the environmental changes. It is important to take time to examine the exterior of your home to see what might need updating. Make sure to open the windows to make sure they do not need replacing. In most cases, what ends up needing to be replaced are your windows. It is therefore important to consider having *window shutters which can be both style and protective at the same time.

TWO: Clear the gutter

When it comes to clearing the gutter, many people don’t look at it until after autumn. But Spring is also the best time to check for any clogging or damage that might have occurred. We’ve had such a long and hard winter there is bound to be something there that needs clearing.

THREE: Spring Cleaning

Spring is famous for one thing when it comes to your property and that is cleaning your home high and low. Though not many of us like to spend the entire day cleaning, dusting and polishing the house. But Spring cleaning is essential to ensure you check all the four corners of your home.

PREPARE YOUR HOME

FOUR: Mind your Garden

For those fortunate to own a garden, it is another area that needs lots of maintenance. Winter has a funny way of making gardens look shabby and not even chic. Take time to look around your garden, see what needs pruning, removing or replanting.

FIVE: Protect your Windows

Another thing to love about Spring is you can now open your windows again and let light into your home. But we all know once your windows are open its a bugs parade waiting to happen especially in the evening. This is why I love plantation shutters as they are a nice window cover and help reduce the bugs parade in your home.

SIX: Paint it over

Sometimes all your exterior home needs is a good lick of paint and it will look like brand new. Often during the harsh winters your home gets battered wildly and might need a little touch up. Painting it over is one way to spruce your exterior back to life.

SEVEN: Inspect your roof

Once I wouldn’t do it myself (because I hire someone) it is important to have your roof inspected. Sometimes during harsh winters your home might experience some cracks which are not easily visible. During the exterior inspection, make sure to allocate time for roof inspection too.

PREPARE YOUR HOME

EIGHT: Bring Spring in doors

I don’t know about you but I am someone how loves flowers and have built up a collection. I love to see my orchids flower in my home and they look pretty too. If you don’t have potted plants in your home then pick up some fresh flowers from the market. But if you want to add potted plants, don’t only add pretty ones but those that clean up the air too.

Spring season is considered a fresh start, why don’t you give your home a fresh start too. Prepare your home before spring, well technically summer since Spring is almost over. Don’t forget to consult a home improvement expert before you start any real work on your home.

What are some of the ways you prepare your home for Spring?
