Looking back at each decade, I feel both ‘older’ and ‘younger’, I see the change in my features, the change in my way of life, the change in my personality and the experience itched on my face. I am grateful for the life I have lived thus far and excited for the life I am yet to live.

2026 - 39, (Home, England), I am ready for this final year before my 40s but also ready for this next decade.
2016 - 29, (Oslo, Norway), this decade was about self discovery and building the life I dreamt about. The life that I am super proud of and truly grateful to be living. This decade, I built my financial life and in later years choose to heal from the trauma gained in the last decade and now I feel well equipped for the future.
2006 - 19, (Glasgow, Scotland), I thought I was grown (look at the cheekbones 🤣🤣) and ready for the world, chiiiild was I wrong, let’s just say, I am still resolving the trauma the decade brought me but I am grateful because I met my best friends and made decisions for the future I wanted to have. (Spoiler alert - I did better than I dreamed).
1996 - 9, (Home, Zambia) this was my birthday but my little sister insisted she had to be the one in the middle. The only way we knew whose birthday it was, was by standing in the middle but this year I remember baby sister crying her eyes out and refusing 🤨
1988 - 9 months, (Chililabombwe, Zambia) although my mother looks tired and traumatised😟, I know I was loved and happy.

Who did I collaborate with in quarter one – Sponsor Roundup

Who did I collaborate with in quarter one of 2021? Its been months since I last shared the sponsor roundup post and I am excited to share the new series highlighting who I collaborated with in the last quarter. Even though I have no obligation to share an extra post with respect to whom I collaborated with on this blog, I always love giving the many wonderful brands and companies that I worked with another shout-out for helping me turn this hobby into a side hustle. I work with a wide range of brands and companies and so long as they match my ethos, are in the fields of travel, beauty, lifestyle and home then I am game.

When I started this blog over 7 years ago, all I knew was that I had a little corner of my own on the inter-webs where I could rant and rumble on without stopping. As I got more vested into this corner of the worldwide web I started to learn how people turn their hobbies into full time jobs and make a decent living from it. Whilst that is not my desire, I still enjoy sharing with my readers whom I worked with. So in this new series who did I collaborate with in quarter one, I am excited to share the brands I worked with over the last 3 months and excited to see who I will work with in the next quarter.

Who did I Collaborate with in Quarter One

After 7 years of blogging, I have found a nice balance between brands and PR reaching out me to collaborate and me reaching out to brands I specifically want to work with. When I started blogging I did not even know you could reach out directly to a brand or their PR (if you have the info) and ask if they could partner up with you. I also had the same misunderstanding about blogging, I always thought it was a lot of freebies that you didn’t truly need to do anything for but then I became a blogger and realised the sad reality.

One of my first big collaborations where I was both paid and invited to a restaurant to review was 4 years after I started blogging. I couldn’t fully enjoy my meal because I spend so much time taking pictures that most of my food got cold and had to be re-heated so I could at least enjoy a warm meal. I took a million and one pictures just to include 12 pictures in the post and shared a few with the brand. It was a lot of hard work and felt like I spent more time doing then work than what I was paid in money and food.

Well, those were the good old days, of late due to current affairs we have not been doing restaurant reviews but are excited to get back right into that soon. For now, let’s recap – who did I collaborate with in quarter one?

January 2021 Collaborations

Day Insure – we collaborated on choosing the right learner insurance, I actually learned a lot through research and wish its something I did more of when I was actually learning how to drive many moons ago.

Insignia Showers – I shared tips on how to create a hygge bathroom and tips that you can implement with your own bathroom. I was able to put my own tips to use for both my ensuite and many bathroom.

I was able to collaborate with content creators who shared content which matched my ethos and I enjoyed reading as well like; The Best 5 Things to do in Cancun, I hope to visit Cancun some time this year so this post was of great interest to me. For those like me who struggle with managing their own hair, this content on winter haircare was very educational for me and this is why I agreed to share the content.

I am also open to non-sponsored content submissions but when I am, I go searching for it as opposed to people reaching out to me because I have find the majority have been paid to place than content on a site that matches their client but I am not getting paid therefore I refuse for ‘free content’ submissions unless I request it.

February 2021 Collaborations

Titanic Spa – this was the perfect way to start the month of love, I shared tips on what to consider when booking a spa night or weekend. Its become out family tradition that we take mum for a spa break at least twice a year and we absolutely love doing that and hope we can resume our new tradition this year.

Still with the spirit of the love month I accepted sponsored content on how to keep a gift as a secret from your spouse, and although I am not dating I know my readers are or are married. And for those of us who are not loved up, I thought we focus our attention to living with some simple DIY tips. And why stop at the living room, how about the garden and if you have a small garden like me then you have some landscape ideas of how you will manage it all.

I have a confession to make, I love mayo more than ketchup or any other condiment and prefer mayo on chips than ketchup. So when Pantry House reached out via PR I was so happy that I chose a mayo medley over chocolate because I rock like that.

March 2021 Collaborations

Fortmens.com is our most recent collaboration, we collaborated on big and tall men’s fashion and how they are changing the landscape of big men’s fashion. We all know men are hard to shop for but even harder when they have a bigger frame and are tall as well. Continuing on the fashion theme, I accepted a content submission on being responsible when shopping which I thought was very aptly.

Ecois is a company that supplies virus fresh air purifiers making them the perfect gadget you need in your home especially in our current times. I shared tips on how you could keep your home fresh and Spring ready. Speaking of homes, as a homeowner, I think its important to share tips that I learned along the way as I was going through the process of purchasing my first home. This is why I was excited to work with Mortgage Light and share tips on why having a mortgage advisor is so important especially for first time buyers. And something else I have learned as a new homeowner is to learn how to save money around your home as that you save you in the long run.

Writing this post have given me great joy in recapping about who did I collaborate with in quarter one not in a boasting way but rather in a humbly way that this companies entrusted my little corner of the worldwide web to appear on. I can not wait to see whom I work with in Q2 and also what this new quarter has in stall for all of us.

It will be so nice when we can go back to restaurants again. I think I’m quite glad that I tend to work with companies where the products can sit for a long time without getting cold. I think I’d be quite frustrated not to be able to enjoy the gorgeous food I was photographing!
